When talking about trading for Oliver, it would cost an extreme over payment and also fit the long term picture and be Tippet-type players.
LTIR pronger and amnesty Briere if he's not moved (some rumors saying he may be on his way out). It will never happen but cap space wouldn't be a problem. I agree it's very dumb though

That's before we get to the optics of a predatory offer sheet signed to a player under league ownership/control. It may be an unspoken rule that the Coyotes are off limits. You'd really be putting the screws to the league by trying to steal away basically the best player and future face of a distressed franchise. By the same token, the Coyotes can easily find a home for Yandle and Doan, and match any offer sheet, which they will, even with league restrictions.

The problem we have when we are talking about an OEL trade is that he hasn't stopped progressing. His ceiling is Lidstrom like, and he hasn't gotten there yet. But he is probably top 10 at this point, at 21, and continues to get better every game. From an asset management standpoint, why would you sell low? It makes more sense to just sit on OEL until he stops getting better. It doesn't really matter if you pile on forwards for 'value' if the other side of the equation is in flux or is an unknown. It would take a ridiculous overpayment to get OEL at this point. One that would be impossible to justify short term. So that's why, as a Phoenix fan, OEL threads get annoying fast. There's a reason you want to trade for him, as he is one of the best young D in the league and getting better. But that's the same reason he won't be moved, barring a legit star/#1C coming back.

Yandle is readily available, though he isn't cheap either. I don't expect him to be with the franchise past the draft.
