Thought he looked solid. I thought it was his best game from what i've sen so far. He played physically, banged some bodies in the corners and didnt make any mistakes which is all you can ask for from a shutdown D!!

This thread was a blessing in disguise. Please, make more of these for Grabovski and MacArthur.

23:41 minutes of Ice time tonight. Only Phaneuf played more. He looked really good. Physical, tough to play against, and looked really calm when going back in his zone to retrieve the puck with an agressive winnipeg forechecker on his ***.

Looks really solid. Hopefully there's more to come from him. If he plays like this I'd trust him in a top 4 role

Good game by Holzer.

He plays the simple type of game I want to see out of a #6/7 damn.

Big guy who has decent mobility, can make the first pass and plays a quiet defensive style, finishes his checks but doesn't overcommit and will drop the mitts to defend a teammate.

Him being a RD is also great.

Almost 24 minutes of ice-time for Holzer today. He was second to Dion for ice-time amongst d-men.

RC said in the post game that he's going to keep putting Holzer out there in shutdown situations - after all, he's not up with the big team for his PP abilities.

I love how nasty he is in the scrums. He never lets anything pass... especially against Oli lol.

Yes, I was the one who said he had top 4 potential. I also said that his first game was stage fright and that he's a much better player.

In fact rewind even further back, last year I posted about how Holzer was better than Schenn.

I stand by all my comments

I'll be the first to admit that I said (and still think) he sucks. But he's been good the past two games (still wouldn't sit Komisarek for him)... if he keeps it up, I'll gladly eat crow.

Although I could see RC doing it, I don't want to see Komi back in the lineup against the Habs - especially not at the expense of Holzer.

Yeah some of our fans really know how to call it.

Holzer, Frattin, Fourth Line. I was going to change my first goal prediction to Mac for Montreal but I don't want to make Hatter's job worse than it is. But those who haven't made theirs should jump on the Mac bandwagon right away.

Chomp away.

Need ... to ... play ... young ... guys! Komi's best as emergency replacement. Wash hands of him at end of season or when Gardiner ready.

Seems like good guy. Maybe best to let him catch on with another team when more certain about young group.

We get it. Every single one of your posts mentions how the "AHL defenders" suck..

Holzer and Fraser were both marvelous last night (and I really don't think much of Fraser)

Why do you think he sucks exactly? He's been developing nicely, played for Germany at the 2010 Olympics and was a top d-man for the Marlies for quite some time. He's been NHL ready for over a year now. He was touted to have 2nd pairing potential for a while now.

I was bashing what was an incredibly poor first couple games, but Holzer has really played well since. Last night was quite impressed and the coaches must have been too, given Holzer was out there at end of game.
