Dan Boyle is way too low considering what he's done in his career. He's still probably the best PPQB in the league.

My top 5 would be
1. St. Louis
2. Boyle
3. Girardi
4. Burrows
5. Purcell

I dunno if Conacher should be there already just because he had a hot start.

I agree.

I would also put Mark Giordano and Josh Gorges in there too. Both are top 3 D for their teams.

Andy McDonald needs to be on there.

A minor nitpick: Kunitz has been playing on his usual line with Crosby and Dupuis all season.

I'd put Boyle 2nd. Him behind some of the players on here who only have 1 or 2 good seasons is embarassing.

Why is Boyle behind Kunitz, Clarkson, Purcell, and Desharnais?

You mean the same Andy MacDonald who can't stay healthy?

And the same Andy McDonald who has a 0,5 GPG (10-4-14 in 21G) pace during the 07 Stanley Cup run with the Ducks.

I agree with this top 5 more than the one in the OP. Boyle may have slowed down a bit, but not enough to rank him outside top 5 or even top 3 undrafted NHL players. You could make an argument for Girardi considering the year he's had, but Boyle's still top 2-3 imo.

Yeah, he's had a really great career and is still a fantastic player. MSL, Girardi, and Boyle are the only players on that list who I'd rather have for this season, which I think is what the list was going for.

Is it because Reads 47 points in 79 games futher exceeds Bozaks in 73? Similar offensive production but i take Bozak based on his position and ability at the dot.

I'll take players that can actually play more than 58 games in a season. Something MacDonald has done once in his past 5 seasons.

Homer call here: Chris Tanev should be on the honorable mention list
Grudging respect for a rival team player: Mark Giordano should be on the top 10 list.

Number 1 should be

Andrew MacDonald

Plays 27min a games really solid in his own end.

Can't believe Isl are only paying him 550K for the past few years, and I think he is signed for another 2 years at that rate.

I said it was a homer call in my post; and Tanev was the guy who scored the OT goal against your team last night.

Well played.

As for Tanev, he's the model of consistency. Not flashy, but rarely makes mistakes.

Agree with your assessment of Tanev. Think he has really brought out the best in Ballard (maybe to the point where that later has some trade value). Course, he hasn't even played a full/complete season at the NHL yet (reason why even though I have a biased opinion on the matter - I don't put him as anything more than a honorable mention at this point).
