Unfortunately the only time he has the puck on his stick for a breakout pass is when the other team dumps it in. God knows he can't actually catch up to a player who has the puck.

Not right now he's not. He's a healthy scratch and according to Oilers bloggers not even an NHL-caliber defenseman at this point. Since ankle injuries the guy simply cannot skate and as a result ends up in no-man's land getting passes threaded through his legs. It's embarrassing.

Seriously who remembers 3rd pairings? They aren't supposed to be glamorous. if you really think this is the worst in NHL history I just wonder how your love hate relationship with your team works.

And don't ask me who was worse, because like i said, who remembers 3rd pairings?

I'd take them over any combination of Hunwick, SOB, ROB, and Zanon.

Forget Whitney.

How about Cam Barker and Corey Potter from last year?

Not only is that the worst 3rd pairing I've ever witnessed, they ended up playing close to 20 minutes a night too.

Doesn't change the fact he shouldn't be the best offensive player on the devils.

Lol no. There was a point where Tampa had Enrico Ciccone on a third pairing.

Also, Craig Patrick's Penguins once had Jeff Serowik and Viktor Ignatiev on the third pairing.

If you're wondering who those guys are, you're not alone.

I can't wait until he gets traded again and pulls the wool over the new fans' eyes.
Whitney has been awful this season but this is just wrong. He was fantastic in his first 40 games with the Oilers (2 seasons). His chronic foot problems have completely ruined his mobility. By the sounds of it, he is still recovering and maybe he will regain some speed and agility but his poor play is directly a result of his injuries not some arbitrary decision he made.

..It's a joke, man. I don't actually mean Whitney decided "I want to suck now".

I am starting to wonder if Lundqvist is the worst fantasy goalie of all time. What a waste of a first round pick. ''Rangers look unbeatable'' they said.

You obviously never watched the Oilers when Taylor Chorney and Jason Strudwick were a pairing...

Ryan Whitney? Seriously?

Talk about 'what have you done for me lately'.
Whitney's probably the best defenseman your team has had the past few seasons (excluding Schultz)

Yes, I'm sure the 1974-75 Washington Capitals never iced a worse pairing then this. Stupid thread is STUPID.

The award has to go to any of the pairings on the 03-04 Pens. Cause when stalwarts like Dick Tarnstrom, Josef Melichar and Ric Jackman made up your top pairings...you have a problem.
