Now a full four points behind anyone else in the Eastern Conference.

In a season where roughly 50 pts make the playoffs, having only 5 after a game short of 25% done looks pretty gloomy. Right now we're on pace for about 20 points. Save a miracle, we're not even sniffing the playoffs.

Feels pretty done to me. Also first time ever that I have watched more hockey games of other NHL teams than I have the Caps since the start of this season.

Not done... Cats twice, and u know how poor the cats are this year.. We can beat them and then well be back in contention.....

Make those felines pay and we are back in business. Just need to make a few trades to shake things up in goal and second line wing.

Biggest concern for me now is this: is Kuz want to come play for this team at this pont? I could see him wanting to come play for a contender, but, as of now, this team must look about attractive to him as the Nordiques did to Lindros back in the day.

Who cares? If he doesn't want to compete in the best league in the world, **** him. We need players that believe they can be the one to turn the team around and want to compete with the best.

Besides, there's another full season after this one before he's supposedly coming over.

Nice!

I hadn't heard the first one. It is appropriate for old-time Caps fans.

The second one is great and true.

Some facts.

Tampa plays 2 road games this weekend against Boston and New York. Then plays Montreal and the Caps at home.

Carolina plays 3 road games, one Saturday then a back to back for Monday and Tuesday.

Then of course Caps play Panthers Saturday and Tuesday. Tampa Thursday. Rags Sunday.

Now if they win their next 4 and Carolina wins only one and Tampa loses their next 4 or 5, the Caps could take the lead in the Southeast. Remember we just have to suck less than everyone else to get into the playoffs right now.

That's awesome. All that in only 8 words. Feel free to PM me Shakespeare lines every hour on the hour.

(I actually hate Shakespeare's philosophic premises. He was, of course, a determinist. But he was such a great artist I can read those lines all day. He sketched all kinds of people; good and evil--and pretty much all of em' get smashed down in the end.)

This team is done. They are going to make the Panthers look like legit contenders the next two games and solidify their spot at the bottom of the division.

Stick a fork in them. They are done.

a team going from stanley cup favorites to the bottom of the league.......

just blows my mind, Capitals better not trade Forsberg or Kuznetsov also.

Also where is ovechkin?

This needs to be the title of the GDT the next time we play New Jersey.

They've already lost 3 in a row. All to Atlantic teams due to their absurd depth scoring disappearing, just like I figured it would.

Caps winning against the Cats twice could happen, the Cats have been pretty terrible too. Therefore if they win against the Lightning who can very much lose their next 2 games against the Bruins and Rags, the Caps will have retaken control of their destiny.

Personally we all should. The worst thing that can happen is to start grabbing wins here and there but not so many as to make the playoffs. Its the Bullets syndrome...finish just bad enough not to make the playoffs but good enough not to get a top pick.

Chalk this season up. Trade expiring vets at the deadline and play even more young players to see what they have.

It would take a Bruce Boudreau style miracle turnaround and last I checked he already is coaching another team so no chance he's coming back here this year.

I not sure if some of you realize this, but these predictions about other teams is grasping for straws. WE HAVE 2 WINS. This team looks terrible 2 out of 3 periods and our goalies cant stop a beach ball. We have to win before we can predict other teams will lose, I would think?
