How?

...did last year's team even exist without Suter and Brodin on Defense?

No Parise. No Pominville. No Coyle. Koivu injured.

The mind boggles.

Wow that's right. We did have a pretty serious turn over in players didn't we. Add a few more call ups from Houston to that list of nobodies. It's a wonder how we won at all.

How (Does this thread not have a more descriptive title)?

We overachieved for the first half of the season, then bombed the second half with an AHL roster.

We had Jed Ortmeyer and Warren f'ing Peters. That's how we existed.

Team was much tighter defensively and had Marco Scandella playing like he's capable of. Tom Gilbert and Justin Falk were noticeably better last year as well.

Spurgeon was also good, especially paired with Gilbert. They were exceptionally good down the stretch. Probably one of the few bright spots during that dark time.

I will admit, watching him in the postseason was a riot.

What if Suter hadn't signed here? And if Brodin wasn't playing well beyond his years.

Can you imagine how bad the defense would have been?

Now that this team is falling apart, we get ZERO respect on the main board. People seem to HATE this team.

We just lost 4-1 to Calgary's AHL team and 6-1 to a tanking Oiler's team. The Wild deserve every bit of criticism being thrown at them right now. It's downright pathetic that they've put themselves in the position they're in right now. At least Columbus and Detroit want to make the playoffs, so I really don't care whether we make it or not.

It's really embarrassing to say the least. I've read people saying things like "Too-bad Minnesota can't buy a cup"

Normally that would get under my skin a little bit but right now all I can do is shake my head and move on.

Right now I hate everything about this team. The organization, the media, the coaches, the players, the food at the rink. I hate myself for going out and buying a jersey this year to proudly wear. My last jersey was a Rolston.

BTW, when are we going to hear the Falness commercial telling fans when they will be getting their refund tickets for the playoffs?

We just dropped almost a quarter of a billion (US Billion) dollars on two free agents. That's what it means.

I lived in Michigan during the "Ice Yankees" era, I can tell you that those comments typically come from people who are immensely jealous of the fact that two superstars (and most likely "C" and "A" for the Olympics) are not playing on their team. Largest reason why Detroit fans now are so ******** because they thought they were getting Suter and were going to make a pass at Parise. And swung out on both of them.

******** or not, if they make playoffs and we don't, they have every right to gloat in our faces.

Because the Red Wings (and others) didn't do that before there was a salary cap?

Nope... Still don't get it. What has that got to do with buying a cup. Every team has a cap limit hence you can't buy the cup.

Spurgeon's been fine this year as well, wouldn't say he's regressed. Never played with Gilbert last year, that was Scandella, Stoner before Spurgeon got injured. Gilbert/Scandella were quite effective in their ~30 minute games down the stretch last year, which again surprises me that we never bothered trying that pair this season.

They probably would've given Marco Scandella an opportunity to work his game out, rather than sending him down because he couldn't make Justin Falk look like a legit NHL d-man, something no one else has been able to do this year either. I don't care how poorly he played in the AHL prior, playing in the AHL had to be frustrating for a 22 year old coming off a season where 75% of it he was on a top-pairing in the NHL. Giving him no opportunity to find his game when we have 3 competent NHL d-men just makes no sense to me. Financials/waivers should have had nothing to do with the decision to send him down, whether or not they did is up for debate.
