Seriously. Six to 24? Maybe rain? Why don't they just say "stuff is going to fall from the sky this weekend, but we have no idea what"?
This is the truth.
I remember a few years back shoveling about 8 inches when the forecast predicted "cloudy with occasional flurries" only in New England do flurries turn into over half a foot of snow.
My daughter has a basketball game scheduled for Friday-I am willing to bet it gets cancelled and rescheduled.
That is so much higher than anything else I've seen. Wow. Wonder why the discrepancy
Seriously. Everything I've seen for the Cape is like 3-6 inches, with the highest being maybe up to 8 inches. Yet this map has over 17 inches... Maybe they're just going with the highest models totals to get more views?

My son's hockey game on Saturday is already looking to reschedule.
I plan on shopping tomorrow, making food, drinking beer and hopefully watching the Bruins. I think I may buy a snow blower tomorrow as well.
thank you for doing that....and keeping everyone safe
Well thanks. We don't usually get a lot of compliments, lol.
I usually answer calls for the natural gas division, but it's always all hands on deck for electric when a storm comes. The gas company ceases to exist lol.

FWIW I saw someone post a screenshot from Fox 25 saying the same thing. Also, there's one computer model that has this thing dumping 60 inches of snow on Boston. It's not going to happen, but the mean of all the models is predicting right around 26 inches or so...

im sure you hard and dont get thanked.
btw--need my Internet, so power ON for Topsfield.....
Went food shopping tonight in Burlington's Market Basket. Poor workers. Looked like they were short staffed and working extra hours. Arrived at the deli counter... number was 27, ticket was 44.
Usually go on Tues or Thurs, but I'm working tomorrow and had tonight off. Good luck to those who are going food shopping tomorrow. God speed.
In one of the latest updates, a WCVB meteorologist said it may linger into Saturday evening. No bueno.

in fairness, most of those models don't tend to operate under an equal distribution and what the news service is reporting could be anything from a maximum probability (even with a confidence interval of ten feet) to a maxima or whatever
it's kind of like electron temperature, except not a defined distribution, and if someone on tv actually tried to explain distributions on newscentre7 or whatever, peoples heads might pop

The 60 inches scenario is the most unlikely but still possible. The weather guy here said more than like about 20 to 30 inches which is the middle of the lowest and highest forecast models.
Either way it looks like New England is going to get slammed with a huge storm.

Imagine 60 inches... I'd go into hibernation until it was gone.
Does anyone know the rules in boston, do I need to shovel my sidewalk? This is the first time I have my own front door, therefor I have my own sidewalk to take care of too maybe?
can someone tell me why they don't just bin the damn intervals and say "20% chance of 1 ft 30% chance 2 ft 20% chance 3 ft and a 30% chance of being as long as my donger"
We're due for this though. Ive been waiting for years! My mother is freaking out. She remembers the blizzard of 78 and said while she didn't lose power, it was madness. As long as I have power I'm good. I just don't see us getting 24 inches here. I remember a few years ago they canceled school, declared a state of emergency and the storm passed us. The poor newscasters ( Pete Bouchard) was all beside himself like 'whoops!'.
I hope its a good amount though. I want to build a proper snowman with my neice. I'd take her sledding, but the only hill that was remotely good was the one at Glendale Park, but the new Everett High School had to go and ruin that
