I don't get this at all. Kulemin looks like a good fit in Pittsburg, but what could they offer Toronto? I do't think a low 1st gets the ball rolling, Toronto has a ton of D prospects so they shouldn't be that interested in Pittsburgh's prospects and Toronto aren't in a position to take on a vet for Kuli.
You don't think the connection between the two would play into the decision. Here's a new contract to play with Malkin oh and by the way there's some guy named Crosby on the team and you have a chance at the cup every year. What would you say?
but how do you know what his motives are? did he say something relevant to give you that idea or do you just assume everyone wants to play with Crosby and Malkin? because that worked VERY well when the Pens were pushing to sign Parise...
what makes you think the Pens would want to resign a guy with 8 goals in his last 82 games?
Hmmm.....I don't know, maybe because they are interested in him?
Kulemin and Malkin are pretty much best friends, they have played well in the KHL together before Kulemin was even drafted and they were great again this year.

Praise made over 100 million dollars. Not the same situation or player.
Just to mention, Kulyomin and Malkin have been playing together since kids in the magnitigorsk system, all the way through the junior national teams and to the super league. Its more than just their recent stint in the KHL.
Kuli is not going to get the return that TO fans thinks he will. I would say a 2nd, B level prospects at the most.
More then you think.
Don't see why we would even have Kule on the market anyway.
Hint:
We don't

Then do the right thing and send us Malkin... Cheap.

If this draft is as deep as they say it is yes a 1st gets the ball moving
I hope you're talking about Dallas because Sneep was traded there weeks ago.
Really though, Kulemin's production has been poor for the past year and a half. His value is going to surprise some if he does get dealt eventually. No way he nets a first and I think the Leafs would be lucky to get even a second in the package, despite him being signed past this season.

The entire line last year struggled...
oh so we should give you guys good value for him, not because of production, but because he is friends with Malkin?
When you are playing with Malkin and Neal, there aren't many more things than goals that are expected. We just got Boychuck for free and he's seeming to gell with them so far so I'm sure they would let this play out a little longer. Neal wasn't best friends with Malkin before he came here and he turned into a 40 goal, PPG player last year so maybe Shero has better things in mind then giving Malkin someone to hang out with.

lol paul gaustad got a first and was a ufa lol come on dude you are drinking your own bathwater.
but i thought the opportunity to play with Crosby and Malkin would make that much of a difference...
dealing with elite players and those contracts are different. Did the pens offer the same money? If kulemin was in the running for that kind of money then all bets are off but he isn't.

You are wrong. Pitts offered a 1st last year. Kule is a great young players. Solid offensively and great defensively. He had 38pts in 34 games in the KHL with Malkin. He'd be a star in Pittsburg.
He's got another year in 2013-14 where hes making a reasonable 3M on a 2.8M cap hit.
My mistake. Still, it's not like whatever team acquires him has him locked up long term.

I don't think that has much bearing on what the Leafs will get for him. In general, I think fans expect much more than what their team ends up getting. I'll wager that *if* the Leafs deal Kulemin, it won't be for what you believe "fair value" is.
