Sutter is also younger, better defensively and plays a more important position. C > LW
Just my perspective.
Kulemin is a strong defensive player, that can and does play the body. Bottom line: Kulemin is an effective player and fits well into the Leafs now and in the future. If he's moving it's for a similar player Sutter or and overpayment of prospects -- think a first + a good young player. There is simply no need from a Leaf player to move this guy for spare parts. If a team doesn't want to pay -- the Leafs will gladly keep him.
Phil the guy with zero goals right? the (superstar) how does that help bozak. Tin man played 50 games with him and got like 12 points lol. bozak played around 60 to 80 total games with phil and around 40 to 50 when lupul was healthy. so bascially 40 to 50 games with lupul and phil. Phil needs lupul. If you put sutter with phil do you think he would do any better? i doubt it.
If I'm Nonis, any conversation involving Kulemin that doesn't begin with a 2013 1st is a non-starter.
1st + Despres/Maatta/Dumoulin?
Exactly my thought. Pitts came to Leafs. Leafs hold upper hand. Have no reason to trade Kulemin, as he fits Carlyles system to a "T". I'd rather see him goto my Devils, but Kulemin would make any team in the NHL better IMO
One of the above + 1st or no chance. Kulemin with Malkin was awesome in KHL.
I didn't say he was better offensively. I said I'd rather have the guy that is good defensively that can contribute offensively (Sutter). Bozak has scored more points, but he has been paired with better players throughout his career. He is also older, and bad defensively.
Sutter and Kulemin are two totally different players. Sutter is a center, Kulemin a winger. Sutter a checker and defensive forward with good offensive instincts, Kulemin a goal-scorer with good defensive abilities.
AHH NO! his O is more of a 50/50 split of goals and assists.
Why are we talking about Sutter for? i doubt he is in the talks. Im thinking Kennedy and a pick for Kule.
There are no roster players on the Pens that would be included in the deal and certainly not Kennedy. None of them (that Pens would consider moving) helps us now or in the future. Picks and prospects is what Leafs needs.
You DO KNOW that Sutter is a 3rd line defensive center and only put up 20 points LESS than your supposedly amazing "top 6 winger" in Kulemin... RIGHT!?
Sutter >>> Kulemin when you factor in what he bring to the pens (age, cap, role, PK, etc. etc.)
I get it that there is little to nothing to be really excited about in Toronto with the Leafs, but lets me real here people when discussing hockey trades.
Kulemin is only 26 -- don't make it sound like he's 40. He also plays an effective checking style and plays on the PK. He does not get 1st PP times -- in fact rarely sees the PP yet he has a 30 goal season under his belt. All those intangibles you find in Sutter you'll see in Kulemin. The only difference is he plays center.
Honestly this could be because I am a huge supporter of Kulemin but Sutter is who I would want in return. I understand why Pitts would say no but he is the only one I ever really see drive the net constantly and we kind of need those guys.
