I'm not confused with the value since Loktionov asked for a trade and Dean was possibly doing Lou a favor. I'm confused as to why the Devils were interested in the first place. Based on accounts from Kings fans he is a top six or bust type of guy and he has been tried at wing and failed. He's not better than Henrique or Zajac and I'm not sure he'll ever be.

Our third line is a more offensive line. Not a typical shutdown line.

Bahahaha, and to think all those Loktionov proposals from the Kings fans, I was kinda close, I suggested a 6th rounder.

A lot of people being dramatic in this thread. (how surprising) The kid has shown nothing at the NHL level. That doesn't mean he won't.. but seriously, why would any team give up something substantial for him? Think about it. I wish him luck with the Devils, I'm not going to hold my breathe though. I don't see him lasting much longer and will probably go back to Russia.

Henrique can play wing though. Or the Devils could try and roll 3 somewhat balanced "scoring" lines, with our checking line of Bernier/Gio/Carter being the fourth line. Which is essentially what we did at the end of last season and the playoffs.

You ever check the standings, bud? Or wait...do you mean the Islanders?

nice pick up for the Devils. Surprised by the little price. Figured he'd get a little better return.

Considering it was pretty much an option auction, this is as close to the proper value of this player as you're going to get.

I'm not going to lie, the Devils won the trade easily. A 5th is basically nothing

We used a 3 offenive line system last year. Our top line had two 30 goal scorers. Our 2nd line had two 20 goal scorers. Our 3rd line had a 30 goal scorer as well.

If we can add a top 6 winger for a d-man + prospect (Tallinder + Tedenby maybe?), we can move Clarksonto the 3rd line with Loktionov and Josefson. Plenty of scoring there, if the two younger players pan out.

The 5th could wind up being a hidden gem. You never know.

Anyway, good low risk/high reward deal. Seems to be Lou's trademark.

I like the idea of him centering Josefson & Butler. It might get Josefson's offensive game going.

Also, forgot about Moulson and Purcell. Damn, that's pretty impressive.
And Brian Boyle...

In short a 5th means absolutely nobody wanted to get him. I see plenty of work for Peter Deboer to turn him into an effective player but you never know...

Talented, but not high-end enough to force his way onto an NHL roster. Too small by NHL standards and easily pushed around. Was moved to wing, and it didn't really work, so he needs to play at center. A much better playmaker than goal scorer.

Spunky kid, never heard anything bad about him... just one of those guys a hair below NHL level. Back in the KHL he would probably be a point-per-game player.

Besides their stupid love for the goons during the regular season, The Devils always try to balance as much as possible their lines and pairings. There's no real shutdown line, top line or a 1st pairing here.

So he'll be joining the big club with New Jersey? Interested to see him play.

He's a long shot to ever be an NHL regular in my opinion. Good vision and hands, but small and slowish. He's been on the block for weeks with a 5th as the asking price, with no takers. There's a reason for that, as well as him being a fifth round pick himself.

Loki can ONLY be a below-average #2 center in the NHL, with an upside of average (because of size, not talent). And he actually is rather poor on faceoffs. You cannot slot this guy on a checking line because he's so small he'll get killed. And he'll never be good enough to be a #1 center in the NHL.

Honestly, he'll be a great #2 center in the KHL.
