The guy makes 7.1 million dollars a year, and puts up those stats, if you're gonna be an offence minded defenceman and be a minus 9, you better have 20+ points to go with it.
that is kind of unfair.
BC cant do everything on that team, and his minus 9 isnt a direct indication of his play.
Jack Johnson is a minus 8 so far this year, but the dude plays nearly 30 FREAKEN minutes a night on a **** team...of course his plus/minus is going to be bad...
Brian Campbell is the same player now that he was with us and prior..only difference is he doesnt have a Keith and Seabrook to balance things out for him.
I'm not sure. It didn't seem like he should have been pulled after the 2nd goal. Neither were that bad of goals to give up, IIRC. The Predators announcers speculated he was injured.
Former Ranger and Buffalo forward. Small forward with some skill. When Capocalypse happened, I remember a few rosters with Kennedy slotted in them for $700K or so.
Well deserved, great goalie, just needed a chance and the Ducks were smart to give it to him. Now they can either hold onto Hiller for the rest of the year or deal him. I would definitely deal him though. This is a great opportunity for them to upgrade other parts of the team.
I'm surprised they gave him an extension so soon, especially since Hiller looked great in his return. The scouting reports on Fasth that I've read said he can be beat upstairs. Ducks announcers also admitted this in one of his recent games, and that teams haven't challenged them upstairs as much as they should.

Teams will get the book on him pretty soon. Its his first time through the league.

Exactly... wish is why I wouldn't have been so quick to ink him to an extension. If I'm the GM, I let the season play out and see how he does after teams see him a 2nd and 3rd time. If he passes the tests and still pays great, then suck it up and pay him what he's worth.
In other news, Nash will be out again on Thursday... And the Leafs-Wings 2014 Winter Classic is all be official.
He's short. Nothing you can do about that. Look at his style and his shoulder pads though. He does a good job of filling up the net. Shooting bar down or close to it on any goalie is easier said than done. Being a UFA at the end of the year, if he continues his good play, they could have had a major situation. 2.9M, even for a league average goaltender (.915 SV%), is a solid deal. I think they are banking on him performing at least that well and obviously there is some upside to those numbers too. Too many key upcomming UFAs for the Ducks, they needed some sense of stability.

Hawks got Crawford for $2.6 after a .917 season (.927 in the playoffs vs the #1 seed)

It was a good deal for us based on that year. Who knows what the future of this deal holds for Fasth but the guy is playing great so far. I believe there would have been a lot of interest in the offseason if he ends up having a great year this year, and the price would have been 4M. Better to hedge your bets in Anaheims situation IMO, especially with the UFAs they have coming up. They are having a great year and are on a budget. It would have been a disaster to let these guys all hit UFA after a year like this. A team on a budget needs to take advantage of the possibility of getting this guy locked up for cheaper than he is worth and given his age, he would transition nicely to the young prospects they have on the way.
