I really dont get that argument. Aside from Ottawa, Boston, and NYR, the East is a defensive disaster. Pathetically terrible play. They really think a team as offensively stacked as the Hawks wouldn't thrive against Eastern teams?

Vokoun, Carolina's backup (Ward out 6-8 weeks), Neuvirth, Holtby, FLeury, Hedberg, Brodeur, Bryzgalov, Lindback, Nabakov, Theodore, Markstrom, Florida 1 day contract goalies...

vs

Crawford, Emery, Niemi, Quick, Fasth, Rinne, Howard, Luongo, Schneider, Varlamov, Lehtonen

Give me a break..

That is not a typo.

That game is extremely difficult to watch. As are all nashville games I guess. They play the type of hockey that kills TV ratings. They make me want to watch golf as it is more exciting.

2 goals in 19 seconds and a Carter hat trick. I have Carter and Bernier and coldsteel has Rinne.

Suck it, *****.

1. Draft Carter in the late rounds for all three of my fantasy teams.
2. Profit.

Got him real late him both of my leagues and didn't want him in either, both just got to the point that even I couldn't pass him up anymore.

Pretty much the same here. I was holding out hope he'd return to 46-goal form but I thought it was much more likely I'd end up dropping him a few weeks into the season.

Didn't know where to put this so since I am an out-of-towner I opted for this thread... Can't wait to play you guys tomorrow. The Wild are starting to play great hockey and obviously so is Chicago. Add in the streak the rivalry that is developing and this has the makings of a great game.

Also, do you guys think that you (in the long term at least) want the streak to end soon? There is a school of thought out there that says the sooner a team faces adversity the better. If you don't face any kind of adversity until really late that could be bad for you in the playoffs. Just wondering what your guys' thoughts are on that. Congrats on the great start to the season.. You guys must mathmatically clinch a playoff spot soon right?? haha.

This team faced its share of adversity already - it was last season when Chicago went through a brutal losing streak and Quenneville was nearly fired. Same roster this year except for a few minor additions who've played really well, like Roszival.

I don't think much affects them. And if they lose it could **** them off more to play even better. The real difference this year is that the third line is very strong and the 4th line is pretty decent most nights for a 4th line. Q rolls all 4 without worrying about match ups. Hawks will play possession/transition and Wild will hopefully try to match that pace. If not, it will be a snooze fest of Wild trap hockey. And the Hawks win that way too.

You're confusing adversity with losing. We've certainly faced adversity this year.

Truth, the Hawks may have had the most adversity going into the season. Questions everywhere, can this team be the 09-10 team or will it be the 11-12 team again, can the goalies bounce back, will Hossa be healthy, what Kane will show up, how long till Q is fired, who is Hammer getting traded too, etc.

There is no greater adversity than losing games and facing the scrutiny and disappointment.

2 straight 1st round exits not enough scrutiny and disappointment for you?

I don't think any of the conventional mental weaknesses we see in sports apply to this Hawks team. They'll play the best they can and the results will be what they are gonna be.

I think if they play their best and lose they will shrug it off and move on. they have no expectations of winning every game.

Just read on the BJs board that their game tonight's apparently a free food night for their STHs.

Talk about a BAMF deal....

caps suck but they got jobbed hard. 2-0 game in the first, ovechkin lays amassive clean hit on kelly and the refs somehow call him for interference. even the massively homer Boston commentators called it a terrible call. boston scores on pp, game effectively over.
