Yeah, Miller isn't a lock
Although he's certainly making a case for it

I'm quite sure that Pat Kane is a kinda of a lock for US.

Skinner before Getzlaf makes sense to me, Skinner has been playing on the wing and he is a ridiculous skater, which is great on larger ice.

Grit and physical play will be a whole lot less important in 2014 than it is in the NHL or was in Vancouver given that the tournament is on big ice. Skating, puck skills and creativity will be much more important.

Weber-Doughty
Letang-Pietrangelo
Keith-Seabrook

To me these pairings should be as close of a lock as it gets. Only mystery in their defense would be the 7th man. At least it should be IMO.

Thomas wouldn't make it even if he miraculously came out of retirement. The USA has a ton of great options without him. Quick, Schneider, Anderson are the best right now, with Howard and Miller in fringe consideration depending on how the next year goes.

Miller almost stole gold for the US in 2010 and is still a very good goaltender, he's just on a horrendous team.

I don't care how slow Getzlaf is (and I'm a huge proponent of a fast team on big ice), but he needs to be there.

They always come into play in tough games. Especially board battles.

There's only 1 starter. That's why he's called a starter.

And that was 4 years ago. Welcome to today.

My shot at the team. I'm surprised not to see more support for PK Subban. Anyways he's on my team as is Taylor Hall and Marty St. Louis. Iginla is the elder statesman and makes my roster. He and Toews would constitute the grit up front. And I love Tavares between the two Oilers.

nash crosby perry
giroux Stamkos st louis
hall tavares eberle
benn toews iginla

doughty weber
kieth pietreangelo
letang subban

price
luongo

Olympics. Grit isn't as uh... tolerated as it is in the NHL. Chris Pronger was always amazing in the playoffs but wasn't great internationally.

No way that RNH is on the team. Also doubt that all three of Seguin, Tavares, and Eberle make it on. Team Canada doesn't necessarily pick the "best" guys and I can't see us taking so many young guys on either.

Couturier plays for Canada internationally. Missed JvR.

Luongo should be on the team and starting. He was part of the gold medal team and has experience playing for Canada in big tournaments. Also he has been one of the top goalies in the NHL for a few years now. I also don't agree with Coburn being the other defencemen. I think either Seabrook or Hamhuis should get that part. Team looks really good. A lot can change in a year though but I am really excited to see Canada defend the gold.
