Should be room on Team Canada for both Hall and Eberle (and Seguin), especially considering rosters will probably go up to 25, from 23.
Forsure. It's just weird to me, I scroll through this entire thread and see Eberle on 99% of the teams and I think I'm the only person who listed Hall on the roster.
Just so we are clear, you are saying that the guy who, as a 21 year old, led the last Olympic team in scoring doesn't have the offensive upside to play in the top 6?
Anyways, regardless of what nominal "line" he is on, I would be willing to wager he will be among the top 2 centres in ice time (if not the top). He will also definitely be playing centre, there are many others that will be moved to the wing before Toews.
You have the Crosby line which is pretty the #1 line. The next 2 lines can be switched in terms of how you want to look at it, the line Toews will center will be the "checking" line, and will most likely get more ice time than the "2nd line". Labelling Toews line as the 3rd line has more to do with how most of us have been brought up and how we always label the checking line as the 3rd line.
Team Canada
Matt cooke- Darren helm- colby armstrong
Ryane clowe-Josh bailey- blake comeau
Jason chimera- tyler bozak- colton orr
Ray whitney- vernon fiddler- eberle
clitsome- shea weber
Jared cowen- Adam mcquaid
steve montador- michael del zotto

quick
and who ever is the best canadian goalie this season not named price or quick
Quick is American. So are McDonagh and Suter.
Why Lucic? He wouldn't add any value to Team Canada - he's a poor skater to begin with, which would only be compounded on the international ice surface, poor defensively, can't kill penalties, and isn't on the same level offensively as guys in the top-9 on this team. So basically he'd be a 4th line winger, but then you need to consider that physical play and banging and crashing in the corners is significantly less important on international ice. Guys like Richards, Staal, Bergeron and Benn can give us the physicality and ability to work the corners that we need.
Kane - Crosby - Stamkos
Hall - The Nuge - Perry
Couture - Towes - Nash
Benn - Tavares - Giroux
Weber - Pietrangelo
Letang - Keith
Doughty - Del Zotto
Luongo, Price, X
... So some of my young picks haven't developed... gambled on The Nuge, Evander Kane, and Del Zotto stepping up another level..
The lockout really will hamper the younger prospects from hitting their strides for next yr. Too bad for them.

The Toews line was the #2 line during the medal round at Vancouver, but guys like Marleau (a nominal 4th liner) got a time of ice time because of his special teams play.
It all depends on how you structure your lines. I'd like to see Crosby and Stamkos centering separate lines, with Toews centering a 2-way line and Bergeron centering a more defensively-oriented, 4th line. In that scenario I wouldn't expect the overall ice time of the top 3 lines to vary a whole lot.

Yeah, I understand that. That's why I said "nominal" line. My main issue was people putting him as a 4th line winger.
Tavares-Crosby-Stamkos
E.Staal-Giroux-Perry
M.Richards-Toews-Nash
J.Staal-Bergeron-Iginla
Eberle and 1 of Getzlaf or Benn (neither are great skaters for the big ice, wanna see how Getz rebounds)
Picked a fast 3 zone team, the Russian speed worries me on the big ice. B.Campbell might be a stretch but he's one of the best skating defenseman I've ever seen and he seems to be a lot better player in Florida. I wanted a mobile offensive d, preferably a LH shot.
So many things can happen leading up to the Olympics
Forward Locks imo
Crosby
Stamkos
Giroux
Tavares
Nash
Toews
Perry
Defense Locks
Weber
Keith
Letang
Doughty
Pietrangelo
Eberle, Spezza, Bergeron, Benn, Seguin, Hall, Subban, Staal, Seabrook, Hamhuis, Richards, even Thornton imo do not have their spots secured, but many of them are likely to make it.

Kid is criminally underrated.
Hall doesn't bring anything to the team that they don't already have.
At the same time Eberle has proven more internationally.
Hall has a shot at the team, I would say he has the same chance as a guy like J.Staal.
Not speculating with the rosters yet, too early to do that. But I'd say the gold medal game will be a tight one between Sweden and Canada. The Canadian team has easily the best depth overall, they always do. Sweden in my mind is clearly the strongest European team at the moment and tournament and ice could be tilted towards them because the games will be played on larger ice. Remember, Europeans took all the medals the last two times Olympics were on larger ice (1998 Czech - Russia - Finland, 2006 Sweden - Finland - Czech) despite Canadians being favourites then, too.

He's a natural LW(something Canada is sorely lacking) would be the fastest skater on the entire team (international ice) and has chemistry with Tavares and Eberle.
If he keeps scoring around a PPG until Sochi I wouldn't be surprised at all if he made the team.
