Kostka did.

But regardless, judging by the stats Rielly's been getting plenty of shots, which means he's been playing offensively.

It's going to take a kid like Rielly a bit of time to gain the confidence to go out there and assert his game.

I hope I can get out to see him play soon.

Eakins is known to be careful with his rookies so I am not surprised if Rielly isn't there. As well the boys are very determined to keep their standings strong

Glad he is shooting, we need him to do so actually. He's more of a pass first guy.

4.7% shooting percentage. Definitely below average, they will start going in if he continues

Can someone comment on Rielly's play with the Marlies?

I would like to get some information on his skating, passing ability, shot, puck rushing ability, board work and overall defensive coverage in his marlies stint so far.

Thanks in advance.

Watched 3 of Rielly's Marlies games so far. Might watch tonights game tomorrow. He's been paired with Holzer mostly, but for two periods against Rockford he was paired with Gysbers. He's been getting 1st PP minutes and 2nd PK duties. IMO, he's gotten better and more comfortable with each passing game.

In all 3 games he's been creating some chances offensively both at even strength and especially on the PP. He's obviously a great skater, but it's not like he can skate around everyone like he could in the dub. He seems to be a bit more conservative so far with taking offensive chances, but imo he'll start taking more offensive chances as he gets more comfortable and gains confidence and figures out what he can and can't do against pro defenders. His decision making with the puck is god damn excellent. He rarely makes a bad decision or a bad pass and always seems to make the right play. Whether that be knowing when to pass, dump it in, or join the rush, he almost always seems to make the right choice. And that has been the most impressive part of his game, imo.

For those asking about his shot: His shot is good, but not great, and I've noticed that a lot of his shots have been from the corner of the blueline. I imagine that he's just trying to keep it simple and just get the puck on net, as he probably doesn't want to try to get the puck to the middle by walking the line with the risk of turning it over. If he gets more shots from the middle of the ice, the chance of them going in will be higher as well as getting goals off of rebounds, tip-ins, and deflections. IMO as he get's more confident at the pro level, he'll start taking better shots and his offensive production will increase.

Overall, his defensive play has been very good. It was a little shaky to start, but imo you could see noticeable differences by the 3rd period of his first game and has been improving with each passing game. The strongest aspect of his defensive game is positioning, bar none. He'll take away the forwards options away and force him to either dump it in, or to try and force a bad play. Rielly also doesn't seem to run around a lot in his own end, which many young offensive dmen have a tendency to do. However, he still sometimes loses his man in coverage and allows them to get behind him for the back door/didn't tie him up/etc. but I've seen improvement in this as well. His stick work his also very good and this helps him compensate for his somewhat lacking upper body strength in puck battles. And what Rielly lacks in upper body strength, he certainly makes up for in lower body strength as he's very good at protecting the puck for his size.

tl;dr version

You can certainly see him adjusting to the pro level, and he's getting better every game despite the offensive production not being there yet.

Awesome, thanks man.

Does he take the body though? I guess that's why Gardiner is in the press box at the moment. So, was wondering if Rielly is better at that already?

What's up with Komi and MacIntyre?

Komi shows up in only 1 Marlie game according to IHDB. Is he hurt?

Also, why did they add MacIntyre? Was Owuya hurt or just not playing very well? And why is MacIntyre starting almost every game?

I think Komisarek was hurt. Owuya and Rynnas were struggling and MacIntyre has been one of the best goalies in the AHL since joining the Marlies.

Finn isn't signed yet. I assume he will get an ATO from the Marlies. Sparks will most likely just practice with the team.
