At Marlie practice today, D Paul Ranger (concussion) back practicing for now, day off for F Tim Connolly (hip) and Carter Ashton (foot).

Ranger is back practicing! I really have high hopes for him. Incredibly hard worker both on and off the ice, also has a winners attitude. Big Leafs fan, still leads the marlies with +17, and still 3rd in d scoring for the team. Seems like an excellent 2-way player, hope it doesnt take him long to get back to form.

If the speed of his game ever catches up with his skating speed he could be exceptional. In other words if the rest of his game catches up with his skating ability he could be special.

But he isnt signed by the Leaf but by the Marlies? He would have to go through waivers if we signed him now?

Correct, he only has a contract with the marlies. There is no telling whether or not he will choose to stay with the organization once he is ready for full-NHL action (which he has personally said he does not want to do this year), however i would hazard a guess that he'd like to stay being that he has always been a massive Leafs fan, and we gave him a chance. I don't expect him to play for the leafs this year, nor would I want him to given our depth problem on d at the moment, but you have to figure he'd be ready for next year. Also, he's a massive work-horse type guy, like komarov and mcclement, except on D. So he could become a Carlyle favorite.

Depending on who stay and who goes on D for next season I would not mind us to give him a chance in the NHL. Why did he stopped playing in the first place, he did well for Tampa if memory does not fail me.

He was a fan favorite, and yes he played quite well. There are a number of speculations as to what happened to him, most citing personal issues.

Here's a bit of info for you.

Ah, thanks. A bit of a mystery why he stopped playing. Would really like to hear the story behind it but if he dont want to talk about it that´s ok to. But I guess it was the rumor about him and his girlfriend not liking the hockey life. One of my big time favorites Jörgen Jönsson (Kenny Jönssons brother who himself left the NHL to "early" because his family wanted to be closer to the rest of the family) only played one season in the NHL before he moved back to Sweden because his wife did not like hockey life in the NHL. He seem to be very interested to stay in Ontario so I guess it is either us, Ottawa or perhaps Buffalo for him next season if he decides to keep playing.

Hopefully Nonis offer him a contract and seeing as he was approached to sign for the Marlies I guess there is some serious interest there. And he, as already pointed out was a Leaf fan and seem very glad to be back home.

My god every time I turn it to the Marlies game, Gardiner looks awesome. 2 long beautiful stretch passes for breakaways in half a game.

He wasn't just NHL ready last year, he was one of the best skating defensemen in the league and arguably the Leafs best defenseman in the second half. That's why it's so confusing why he;s down there. He wasn't some kid on the bubble he put up 20+ points in the last 40 games.

I sure hope so. The point was to get him back on his game while he recovered from that concussion. If he's back at his normal level, then they should get him back up and make room for him. I'm not saying rush him, but if he's good to go let the man play.

No mention of tonight's win over Rochester? Marlies won 2-1 and Ranger had an assist while Hamilton had 2 goals.

Hamiltons second was off a nice stretch pass from Gardiner which lead to a penalty shot.

Ranger also got an assist on his return to the game. Good for him and our captain did the rest.

Video I recorded of Hamilton's penalty shot. Got into the game with the free tickets I got from the Leafs viewing party on Saturday. Great seats, I was surprised, each ticket retailed for $39.00.

Good depth signing, Solid AHL veteran netminder. And given all the injuries, a necessity.

Would have been front row in Florida or Tampa Bay.

McKegg, who was a healthy scratch for lack of "desperation" in his game last week, puts Marlies ahead 1-0
