Either they keep 6 def and call someone in case of emergency or call up a veteren like reese so propects dont waste games sitting in the pressbox

Wouldn't be Eaton, he's not an NHL contract. Would likely be Dumoulin if we needed one or we'd risk Reese through waivers.

Dylan Reese. Eaton doesn't have a contract and Morrow is nowhere ready to playing in the NHL. He needs to work on a lot in his own zone. Dumoulin would be #9.

Niskanen still hurt so they need an extra body (7th D).

Surprised they got value for Lovejoy.

Reese already cleared before the lockout. I think he is good.

With Lovejoy and Strait gone, not sure exactly how defensive depth chart lines up these days. Signing Eaton becomes more likely.

Maybe something like: 1. Eaton. 2. Reese. 3. Dumoulin. 4. Samuelsson. 5. Morrow. 6. Grant.
Hé's usually pretty spot on, but I guess its hard to say right now. Does this mean Niskanen is close to be back?

I'm watching the Anaheim game, and the announcers just mentioned the trade. They said they added a bunch of "toughness and beef on the backend, Lovejoy's not a guy to shy away from throwing his weight around or dropping the gloves."

Really?

I've defended Shero beyond anything here..and I'm happy to say this is good asset management. He needed moved and we get a pick.

If Lovejoy gets consistent playing time, I believe you will find him to be much better than the going away party he is getting here.

If anyone wants a laugh look at the Yinzer responses under DVE's Facebook post regarding this. Makes me embarrassed to be a Pens fan (and Pittsburger) almost.

Hayward is up his own ass half the time. Probably just another way of saying, "Not very good, but at least he ain't a total *****".

I know Lovejoy wasn't loved around here, but I do think he'll be a decent #5/#6 on a team that gives him more minutes. He joins the rush well and isn't terrible on the back end.

A good guy and a better hockey player than he's shown over the last year or so. I hope he does well for Anaheim.
