Pietrangelo would probably get at least 6+. Don't know about Shattenkirk

I would imagine Pietrangelo gets a Karlsson/Doughty type contract, like 6.5-7 mil long term, while Shattenkirk I'll say 4 years at 4.5 mil. Would like to hear some Blues fans input.

Pietrangelo will probably get $6.5m-ish long term. Shattenkirk is more likely to get a bridge deal in the 2y/$7m range I suspect.

We won't have a problem affording both.

Blue the last three years have spent right around 50 million. You have 6 key RFA's up for new deals, including 4 pretty large ones. Piety, Shattenkirk, Berglund, and Stewart. If a deal isn't made before the offseason, you would have to think an offersheet to one of these players is possible. Especially Piety.

Pietro will cost a ton, his agent is the same as Doughty's so you are looking at 6.5-7 on a long term contract

What about Berglund, Stewart, Russell, and Cole?

Russell and Cole will be cheap, and we might let Russell go. Berglund and Stewart won't get anything too big, but will depend on how they do down the stretch.

Army always seems to resign guys cheaper than other GMs do.

I was just asking. My guess is that if it gets tight Armstrong might do something with Stewart this summer.

Our financials are improving so our budget will continue to expand. I expect McDonald will take a discount if he returns.

Yep or we don't bring McDonald back. I'm not too worried. We ust probably won't be able to add anyone big from the outside.

I'd assume Shatty gets a bridge similar to MDZ. ~5.5/2

Pietrangelo will probably get the same deal as Doughty. Not sure about Shattenkirk.

We won't be able to afford everyone. The general consensus is that it will come down to a choice between McDonald and Stewart. There won't be a problem with Pietrangelo, Shattenkirk, Berglund, Cole or Russell.

As for the other poster who mentioned Don Meehan being Petros agent, I don't think that is a significant factor. He represents Backes as well, and we didn't have any issues getting him signed until 2016 at $4.5m. Ultimately the player decides how far he wants to push things for a few extra bucks.

Shattenkirk has 95 points in 162 career NHL games. I think that he will ask for something in the $5 million range.

He just turned 24, so a bridge contract would be more difficult IMO. I would think the Blues will look to sign him to a long term deal.

The Blues and Pietrangelo were already in talks about an extension before the lockout. I think he'll be signed around the midpoint of the season for anywhere from 5.75-6.5 a year. I'm hoping he signs for less, but it's just not that likely. I wouldn't be surprised if it ended up a long term contract right at 6.25 a year...But that depends on if he signs early or waits and gets nominated for a Norris this year.

I wouldn't be surprised if Pietroangelo got something like $5.5M, STL are really good at resigning players cheap. Pietroangelo deserves $6.5M IMO.

Shatty will probably get around $3.5M IMO.

Piet will be looking for Doughty money, deserves Doughty money, and would be the last RFA St. Louis would ever let slip away (rightfully so)

I agree with everyone that says Petro and Shatty deserve big time raises and long term deals, but what if they agree to sign cheaper contracts, just until they have one year left of RFA eligibility? I just don't know if ownership can afford to bring back all our RFAs on long term deals at this point.
With them being on a solid team you'd have to think they wouldn't mind it..?
Petro 4-4.5 M per
Shatty 3.5-4 M per
Once those contracts are up we then extend them long term.

No way at 4-4.5 on Pietrangelo, he's already one of the best D in the league, he's gonna want a kings ransom. 6.5-7 maybe more.

Shatty's not getting a bridge contract. I fully expect 4 years at 4.5 to 5 per. All he's done is improve by leaps and bounds each year.

Why in the world would Petro want one year of RFA? If anything, he'd want to be a UFA. the Blues would like to take a couple years of his UFA status by giving him Doughty money, which he rightfully so deserves.

I think Pietrangelo will win the Norris this year so my guess is he gets PAID. If there was one defenseman I could have for the rest of his career it would be Pietrangelo slightly above Karlsson and Doughty.

I'd say 6 years, 6.8 mil

For Shattenkirk, I'll guess 3 years, 4.3 mil

Close to 6m per for both on long term contracts. If Myers got a 5.5 per for 1 season, Shatty should get more since he has done so much more over 2+ seasons.
