Lecavalier to Oilers

The Oilers are a young team in need of leadership and a skilled centre with the cap room to make a move, the Lightning are a dynamic young team currently sitting 3rd in the east who could look to move Lecavalier's monster contract of 7.7/yr (Set to expire in 2020) for some missing pieces that could serve to elevate the team further in the standings. With the centre injury concerns in Edmonton and the plethora of young talented skaters at their disposal both sides have the tools to make it happen.

No hate here, since the oilers are my 2nd favourite team , but I Don't see VL waiving his NTC to go to Edmonton.

Lecavalier is unlikely to be traded, doing so opens a big hole in their lineup. They would likely want Gagner but he seems to be hitting his stride. I wouldn't give up on him now.

Trade for a cheap vet and stay the course. Tampa would want a lot for their captain (rightfully so) I don't see it as a move the Oil should make..

As a neutral (Leafs fan) who enjoys watching the Oilers, I would love to see this happen, but the price for Edmonton would be prohibitive, and there is that ntc of Lecavalier's to contend with.

Lightning also need Lecavalier's leadership and skill at the moment as he is one of the few forwards doing something right now

VL's contract and the asking price would be too steep for the Oilers. Best stay the course, pass.

I like Vinny, but we can't afford the contract.

Vinny isn't going to leave the beautiful Tampa area for Edmonton. He clearly loves it there and he belongs there for life.

No from Tampa. (We need him too, and he'll probably retire a Bolt)

Probably no from Edmonton too. (Team isn't in a win now mode, and his contract would still be on the books when it's time for all their young talent to get paid)

Just don't see anything here. It would leave a big hole in our line-up no matter who was coming back. Why does everyone try to take Vinny from us?

They think he'll come on the cheap just because his contract is a little excessive/long. "Surely Tampa Bay wants to be rid of that large contract!" -- No, not really.

it would be a bad move on Oilers end

fitting the big 5
finding a elite gaolie to back theses stars
rounding out the top 9 with nice complementry pieces
and building a solid top 6 d line

RNH - 6Mill
NAIL - 6mill
Eberle - 6Mill
Hall - 6Mill
Schultz - 5Mill
Smid - 2.5Mill
Petry (if he does develope like the fans say he is/will) 4Mill
Hemsky - 4Mill
Gagner - 4Mill

all projections (and future contracts/current contracts) but if they add 7 mill they are looking at a cap of 56mill and thats not where they want to be

You fail at math. And that doesn't take into account that Hemsky won't be in EDM at 4M by the time Yakupov and RNH get their big contracts.

Vinny's contract would be a disaster for Edmonton in a few years.

Don't want anything to do with a washed up 32 year old, who is past his prime.
Lecavalier is a good player but he also has one the worst contracts in the NHL.
Getting Lecvalier would hurt the Oilers, not help them.
