Where did you get that from my post?

There is plenty Montreal can add in a trade for Oreilly

Desharnais
1st rounder
Calagry's 2nd
Nashville's 2nd
Montreal's 2nd
Beaulieu
Morgan Ellis
Danny Kristo
Louis Leblanc
Lars Eller

I'm sure out of that list there is something that can be packaged together to go get O'Reilly
I'm also willing to bet O'Reilly scores more the Desharnais while playing a much tougher, physical game

When the DD/MP/EC line proved it couldn't handle top line matchups early in the season (i still don't know why everyone considered them the top line before the season began, they played so much time agaisnt 2nd and 3rd line opponents all last season which inflated their stats), they became default, as only they can really handle them on the team. Another good reason why the kids and Prusty should maintain a depth scoring role for a couple of seasons before moving up. They'll get torn apart by league veterans.

What is crazy with the ROR speculation is that we would have the best 2-way C line up in the league.

I sincerely doubt DD could get O'Reilly.

O'Reilly is like Plekanec to us, expect more valuable because he's younger and (should be cheaper).

I'd love for the guys to get him a win tonight. He's not sharp tonight as shown by his rebounds but he's been good enough to get a win and get some confidence.

You had Eller in your lineup. Desharnais probably holds similar value.

With the way MTL is playing, the 1st rounder is worth surprisingly little right now.

No one else on that list is even close to getting O'Reilly.

If you want O'Reilly, you're looking at LEAST at Tinordi + Eller. And that's still probably not enough.

I doubt you'll find many who wouldn't do that trade straight up. Doesn't mean that A) the value is fair or that B) the habs would pull the trigger.

You're not wrong, but kinda like the subban situation, if it comes to a trade it's because there's absolutely no way a deal is getting done and Colorado is over a barrel.

Time to break up the DD line...Cole looks like he's still wants to take his kids to school instead of playing hockey...nothing stays on his stick and he can't pass worth crap!

Kinda reminds me of Barry Beck who started off like a beast in his rookie year (22 goals, still the d-man record). After that he got traded to the Rangers but never repeated his rookie year performance and became a pylon eventually. Wait, Myers hasn't even enjoyed the prime of a Beck. Beck is more like Dion Phaneuf. Let's go with Willie Huber. He was 6'7 and never materialized after a good start and became a pylon. There, that's better.

Not this year. Every 1st round pick is crucial to any team. Even some of the 2nd rounders will be gamechanging players this year. Reason why I hope we keep them....

This is not DD bashing it's about having to much of the same in one team.

Plekanec is clearly the better player between the two we can all agree on that....
With Gionta and now Gallagher can you really afford DD as number one or two centre? In the short term YES but come playoff time when you play the same team in a seven game series....I don't think so.

O'Reilly would be a HUGE upgrade to DD in every way.

Desharnais, 1st rounder and Beaulieu for O'Reilly

He's still an RFA though, so Colorado doesn't have to trade him. They aren't going to to move him for something under value. They might not get overpaid (which is probably what he'd cost if he was signed and playing), but they will get value.
