OP makes the case for his show, why it's so good, etc. It's the question/challenge posed that makes the thread moot, because it's clear nothing will convince OP, so he doesn't really mean it.
West Wing, Scrubs and Lost immediately come to mind, and that's just broadcast. I prefer Modern Family as well, and the first couple seasons of The Office. Arrested Development and Curb Your Enthusiasm. Burn Notice. I'd even say Friends but its best days were before the OP's given time frame. Maybe 30 Rock.
Anyway...

Season 1 of Prison Break is some of the best TV I've watched. No doubt about it. If you take only season 1, it's up there with the best. The final couple of seasons (especially the ending) soured me. Overall? It might not even make my top 10 (not including comedies):
The Wire
Breaking Bad
LOST
Dexter
Homeland
Battlestar Galactica
Firefly
Deadwood
The Shield
Game of Thrones
In no particular order. And not counting Band of Brothers (more of a extended TV movie, but my favorite nonetheless), Justified, Sherlock, Suits and House along with those comedies.

Reason: Forgot some titles
I bet the OP is under 21 or so. Season 2 and 3 were unwatchable, season 4 was a bit better but they were never able to recapture the magic of season 1. Same thing with Heroes.
Weren't the seasons past season 2 like unanimously hated by critics and fans alike? I always thought Prison Break was a show that started with a great concept and then fell off the bridge after their first season (ie. Heroes). Even LOST which has it's fair share of haters, had collectively stronger seasons than Prison Break.
The first two seasons were pretty good. I started watching the 3rd season, go to the 4th or so episode, and haven't watched it in other a month now probably... No desire to finish it. Speaking of, what happened in season 3 and 4? Curious to know, but not enough to sit through all those episodes.
Firefly
Lost
The Walking Dead
Flashpoint
Rookie Blue Castle
I'm sure there's plenty others if I felt like going on.
Although I love Castle (you know that), I don't think it's in the same conversation as some of the shows around here. And that's coming from me: Stana Katic's stalker!
If we limited the list to crime dramas/procedurals, it's definitely one of the best.
lol the Walking Dead is easily better than Prison Break
not even close
It's hard to compare. Walking Dead has some intense moments. But there are two shows when I was watching them, I was like "I have to know what happens next": LOST and Prison Break.
Walking Dead should get credit for what it has done for it's genre, but Prison Break's premise/story telling/plot (at least for season 1) was absolutely brilliant.

It's all opinion.
Everyone likes Breaking Bad around here. It's not for me. I prefer pretty much anything to that.
Castle is one of my favourite shows and I watch the brand new season when it comes out on DVD in a day or two.

I love Castle. It's easily one of my favorite shows on TV. I was pissed when it glitched on Monday and was stuck on Javi's O face. Still audio...the whole episode was frozen on espo's face.

That's fair. No matter how much critical acclaim/public praise a particular show gets it doesn't always appeal to everyone. It's kind of the case of Mad Men for me.
I've skimmed through this thread and my conclusion is that Lost is the most overrated series in the world.
Not even close. Lost is frequently trashed - by like everyone who only got through half the show. Ironically, the same people who complain that the show answers no questions when they didn't even stick around until the very last episode.
