LOST isn't for everyone, it's true. But it was on the whole incredibly well done, and those who enjoyed it loved it. There's no middle ground, either you absolutely loved it or couldn't stand it...and there are more of the first kind.

It is impossible to get better than The Wire. When I finished watching The Wire, I lost all incentive to watch any other television shows. None of them have the dialogue and ubiquitous profanity that The Wire had.

The Wire was "street". You can't beat that.

Never got past the second season. The first one was good tho.

In the past 10 years as been aired on TV on it's original run?

Buffy
Buffy is without doubt, the best tv show that have ever been made. The writing were out of this world. Not only did the writers create new trends in the TV world, the show inspired MANY tv shows and was the reason they brought back Doctor Who.

Angel
Not as good as Buffy, but it was amazing. Espacilly the last season.

Doctor Who
The first 5 seasons where just superb. Incredible.

Dexter
Entertaining and addicting tv show.

TWD
A great first season, a okay second and so far, fantastic third season. This is a show that has so much potential.

The Shield
Incredible storyline that got you hooked, it was unrealistic, sure, but it was one hell of a story. Great characters and overall fantastic acting and writing. And the actor who played Shayne, just wow... ... ... that ending

Supernatural
It's been going downhill since season 5 but it still has it's charm. Dean is so awesome.

Breaking Bad
Heroes
My Boss My Hero

Season 5 was the best of them all...(and I'm definitely not in the minority with that sentiment).

Sherlock and Community.

I'm not really a big fan of the modern American drama tbh.

He said he only watched up to season 2 then fell off which is fair - that's where most people fell off.

The Wire is my second favorite show, but it's my favorite within the past 20 years and the best I've ever seen technically speaking. It'd probably be my favorite if I wasn't let down by the last season.

Even though it isn't my favorite, to ask OP's question when The Wire exists completely befuddles me, maybe he hasn't seen it before?

To add on to my additional post earlier in the thread, here is a list of shows better than Proson Break:

Battlestar Galactica: re-defined the Sci-Fi genre and made it accessible to everyone. Critically acclaimed, with character and story lines that will have you in tears, rage mode, and awe, all at the same time.

Doctor Who: There is a reason Dr Who has been on the air since the late sixties, and is the longest running sci-fi show by a light year. Amazing characters with great twists and turns to each and every story. Not even close to stale, even after 40 years.

Rome: by far and large the best re-telling of the events that would re-define the worlds greatest Super power of the time, and set it on the path of conquering most of the known world (To the western world at the time).

Game of Thrones: Not much needs to be said here. Amazing production value, characters and plots on a grand scale which hasn't really ever been seen before in a TV series.

Sherlock is the British version, Elementary is the Anerican version.

I wish they could make a another show with such smart. creativity, and mixed with ton of thriller.

Breaking bad is the only show that comes any close, and even then it's far behind Prison Break.
Is this serious? Prison Break was awful after the 1st season. I'd say it's one of the worst shows in the last 10 years at least that I've watched (I quit watching after season 3 because it was so brutal)

Oh I know that. I wasn't relating the British Sherlock to Elementary. I watch both, Elementary's an avg show. I meant that I don't enjoy American dramas in the same way like The Wire. They don't have the same pay-off I guess. Sitcoms make you laugh and with the BBC Sherlock, it's like watching a super-hero do good using his head instead of muscle. Dramas seem more real but also depressing.

Prison Break and the movie The Shawshank Redemption both show someone wrongly convicted but you don't get that same feel-good feeling with the show as you did with the movie.

It's my favorite series by far, but what a weird way to praise the show.

Jeopardy is still and always will be the GOAT show. The Wire and BB run a distant 2nd/3rd. Prison Break with the DNQ.

I love The Wire, but Deadwood's dialogue was better AND the profanity was more ubiquitous.
