I'm really not concerned about the contract kicking in, just that despite his lack of ineptitude, his development path may be hindered long term. Could go either way of course, just would have liked him to build some confidence in Juniors and come up and explode onto the scene rather than a slow simmer.

So if he gets sent down, it has to be to minors still right? He's not eligible for AHL until next year regardless?

Yea, only juniors for him.

Kinda sucks though.. because I don't feel he's that much of an upgrade over Harrold at wing at this point, especially at the cost of burning a year. Hell, I'd even rather send him back today and call up Lotkinov and give him a shot.

In Darche? How interested are we actually demonstrating?

Barch in over him, Janssen also in over him, Butler called up for the 4th line, Matt Anderson called up, traded for Loktionov, torched 1 year of a ELC over him.

They must have great conversations to still think there is high interest in him.

Again, this is not true. He may not stay with the team for the remainder of the season.

Matteau can still be sent down as soon as tomorrow morning. He'll just go down with 1 year of his 3 year ELC burnt.

Lou stated clearly that he won't allow the terms of the contract to dictate how long Matteau stays up. Would not be surprised if he's back in juniors in a month from now.

That... and he is like 30 minutes late since we knew about this...

I like Matteau and the physical game he brings to our team. I still don't know why Darche isn't signed yet and I don't get the posters who don't want him on our team either. He's a perfect bottom 6 player and that's what we need more so then Butler or Anderson.

Yeah the ELC thing is something we don't have to worry about for over 6 years. No point in getting upset over it now. If he can play, he can play.

Who cares about the ELC, I think that his time up here is valuable for his development regardless. Whether he is in game or not, who he is being coached by and who he is practicing with is very valuable as well. I like that guys such as Zubrus have taken him under their wing and have tried to guide him.

If we are going to burn a year of his contract, he might as well just stay. He isn't getting pushed around physically, so I don't see how the NHL isn't the best place for him to develop.

I think he can play in the AHL after his junior season ends this year.

You really think he's just going to burn a year off his ELC just to see if he can stick?

He probably stays

Ok, so St. Patricks Day and he can play in the AHL. That helps me feel better about this. I'd like to see him be able to play there when not dressing.

Matteau can still be assigned to the AHL or QMJHL but once he plays tonight a year is burned off his entry-level deal.

I'm hoping that acquiring Loktionov leads to a trade involving some combination of Loktionov, Tedenby, an excess defenseman, and a draft pick for a top 6 winger, but what do I know?

Yeah, it's more like a video game deal than a real one. Keep adding low ranking players until it adds up to the same value on that bar at the bottom of the screen. 15 minor leaguers = 1 Sidney Crosby

I just really want NJ to get hold of a quality winger.

NHL 13 made some trades harder...

I was able to acquire Girgensons and Grigorenko from Buffalo for Tallinder, Zubrus, and two 1st round picks haha.

Zidlicky, Salvador, and a 2nd and a 1st for Carlson and Green from the Caps

I think it says more how little they believe in Tedenby, and how miserable our depth is. I hope I'm wrong and you are right though.
