If its any consolation, I got it instantly. I would say I'm embarrassed, but screw that. They were awesome.

As for Matteau, I'm fine with him playing. Couldn't care less about the ELC kicking in. As long as he's capable of contributing, I'll gladly have him in the lineup. I expect he may improve a bit as he has gotten the chance to watch a few games, really focus on specific things, and work on them a bit more in practice than he would have been able to over the first five games he played. If they didn't feel he was capable, he wouldn't be playing to put it simply.

I hope he starts out on the top line as he was listed for the skate this morning. If he's playing well enough, great, and lets keep him there all night. If for whatever reason they want to scale him back a bit, I hope Butler is the guy to move up and fill that spot during the course of the game. Really just curious to see how he would do with Kovy and Zajac more than anything.

Now at this point I'm wondering if Matteau will go back. I'm more worried about that then his contract status now. I don't think he's ready for the NHL. Why not just send him back, and call up Loktionov?

I dont think Lotki would be ready to play . He has to learn a new system, and get accustomed to a completely new area.

They don't exactly play this system up in Albany though. This is yet another problem with carrying 8 defenseman. When something is bothering a forward, we only have one spare forward to fall back on.

Im fine with this. I would rather Matteau not lose a year but its fine by me. He has looked good and its not as if this is a complete waste

This. And the opening is at wing. Not that they can't shift someone else to wing to keep Loktionov at center, but why do so when its far easier to plug in a guy directly at wing who has been working with the team for the last 3 weeks? Just easier this way, especially if they feel Matteau can contribute and don't mind using the year.

When will Loktionov get a spot in a healthy lineup though? That's the question I'm curious to know. Unless Butler goes back down. Or if we trade a defenseman for picks, and not a forward who can jump right into the lineup.

I wouldn't be surprised if Lou trades Tallinder for a 2nd or 3rd rounder and then uses the pick in a trade at the deadline

i think its more likely lou wait til closer at the deadline before making moves like Tallinder. He may be a more valuable chip then a 2nd rounder.

Whatever lands us Perry/Iginla amirite?

Kind of shocked with Matteau back in the line-up. Especially after the trade for Sushi. Hopefully he gets more minutes.

Maybe Butler will get shifted with Kovy and Zajac now that I think about it.

A guy like Tallinder may have significant value around the deadline, or later in the year. How many teams always try to add a veteran D-man or forward to round out a bottom pairing or a bottom 6 forward line for the playoff push? He is the prototypical guy that teams try to add at that time of year. If you have enough teams trying to buy, and/or few enough "quality" guys available to fill that kind of a role, his value may be higher then than it ever would be otherwise. As much as it would be nice to get rid of the logjam and bring in a contributor sooner rather than later, it may land a much bigger return were a move to wait a month or more.

I kinda feel bad for Hank. He's only played a handful of games in a long time. Would it be disrespectful to have him play forward on the 4th line? Or is Lou looking for the right deal? I wish there was a way he could play.

I like it. I posted that is an awesome idea in the other thread as it maintains your identity as the name changes.

I was due to lose.

It's just our luck, and his that a forward is going down injured. Also the Henrique injury when he was out. Aside from Fayne being a little sore nothing has happened to anyone on defense yet.

Damn a battle for the #2 spot in the East. What hockey 'expert' would have said it would be between the Devils and Lightning almost a quarter way into the season.

Hockey is probably the most "unpredictable" sport of the big 4.. When was the last time the preseason favorite won the championship? We just had an 8/6 seed finals.. I would never gamble on hockey, aside from maybe throwing $20 each year on the Devils to win the Cup

I just hope that they continue to give him minutes when Zubs is back. And not on the 4th line. I don't care that they burn a year on his ELC but he isn't really ready and could use the year. Let Harrold play wing tonight he will be just as good as Stef.

We are so lets keep it up. Rather Lou use pots and pans to get us enough points so he can hold out as long as possible and potentially get a better deal near the deadline. Just no more St. Louis hat tricks please!!!!

Maybe a Sami Salo hat trick? Nothing to do with mine and his country of origin
