We don't need Boyd Gordon. We have a lot of forward depth, and good centre depth once Kesler and Malhotra are back. Gordon will just be sitting up in the pressbox

NYR fans are turning on Brian Boyle want him off the team. He would be an amazing 3/4th line center, however, I highly doubt he will be traded. a 6'7 245lb center that is capable of playing in the NHL is quite impossible to acquire.

Would Plek or Ribeiro be cheaper?
Ribeiro is quietly the most consistent player in the NHL. As evidenced here, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mike_Ri...eer_statistics

Anyone remember what Boston paid to get Kelly and Peverley? Those two moves really set up their 3rd line quite nicely as another line that could score, yet also hold its own defensively. Of course, they didn't do much on the road in the Final but at home they made the difference.
Kelly: 2nd round pick
Peverley: Blake Wheeler and Mark Stuart (Boston also got Boris Valabik in the deal)

He is going to be the hottest commodity come trade deadline, Ribeiro is an extremely skilled player and would put Canucks over the top.

According to Darren Dreger and Adrian Dater, Ryan O'Reilly is on the outs in Colorado, looking for a roster player and prospect in return.

I guess they'd never trade to a division rival but damn if that's not a price I would give up.

why aren't people talking more about getting ryan o'reilly? 22 year old 2-way 55 point center that is hard to play against. there are a lot of roster players on the canucks i'd give up to get him and they could have their pick of non-first rounder prospects too. any chance the avs would trade within the division?

I would do Weiss and Gaunce + a mid-round pick for O'Reilly...

O'Reilly would be a fantastic fit... assuming he's not priced crazy over $4 mil...

ROR will make over $4 mil easily, otherwise Colorado would've matched whatever offersheet was made in that figure already.

ROR goes to a team that can pay him what he wants. That will be ironed out before he gets dealt I think.

Thanks. Not an insignificant price at all to pay to shore up their depth (particularly the 2nd one - a young, albeit inconsistent, scoring forward with potential and a serviceable D-man), but you could argue that it added another top 6 forward to beef up their 3rd line when they already had another one in Ryder there too.

That's arguably the type of scoring depth a Cup contender would have, ideally. But a reliable two-way center is needed to complete the puzzle first and foremost, otherwise it all goes for naught.

I think MG will target a forward but consider we don't have much room, it going to be difficult unless we start waiving player..........another center is needed as there will a lot of pressure to have Schroeder play since he is a rookie

there must be some third line center on a non playoff team available?

I think you're wrong. 1 50 point season and 0 20 goal seasons...

Incredibly useful player, high ceiling... should be on a shorter deal at max $3.5-$4 mil. I doubt Colorado is offering that much.

EDIT My guess is they are offering him around Downie money, $2 - $2.5 mil.

You're being sarcastic. He's worth more than those types of players.

His name is "Eller" and he plays for MTL.

Gillis traded away his first ever first round pick... so why not his second?

I could see Schroeder being packaged up for ROR.

I predict Manny Malhotra will get waived in the near future
Good warrior but his cap hit is too heavy

I think it will get done "classier" though. My prediction is that Manny retires and goes out on his own terms.

Assistant/associate with the Canucks in his future.

Thats my prediction and I'm sticking with it.

I think it's because of the price to acquire O'Reilly as well as the contract he's demanding. Likely Kesler money and that would be a lot of money invested down the middle. Also, sounds like he wants out of Colorado to be a top 6 centre and be paid like one, not be an elite checking line centre. That's not available in Vancouver...

I can appreciate that ROR is a good young player, but am I alone in not wanting to pick up a guy who would hold out this long on his team? I feel the same way about Visnovsky, just not interested in adding a player who would abandon his team.
