Summer boredom- Clowe,Vlasic next paydays

Since there is little to discuss currently was curious what Sharks fans thought on Clowe, Vlasic, Murray, Demers next contract values after next season when they hit UFA/RFA.

Clowe $3.625 maybe a 3/4 yr deal @ 4.2-4.5 per?
Vlasic $3.1 3yr @ 3.5-3.8?
Murray $2.5 2yr @ same ?

Demers(rfa) 1.25 if Demers continues his upside and has a stellar year would DW attempt to give him a new deal before he hits his RFA status? Something similar to what Pickles got 4yrs @3mil per?

Also will DW ink Braun to a Demers type contract this year before he hits RFA at the end of the year, maybe 3yrs @ 1.5 per?

Have at it!!

Since Dubinsky, Malone and Ladd all make over 4M, I'd say Clowe (if he continues on producing over the next 2 seasons) would deserve that much.

Vlasic shouldnt get much of a raise (unless he has insane chemistry w/ Burns and starts scoring). - 3 yrs / $11M (3.6 hit)

Clowe - 4 yrs / $18M (4.5)

Sounds about right, It'll be tough to make space with Couture's and Burns contracts coming up. Good thing we got rid of Heater's contract this year. Handzus coming off the books will also help with that. That would be a total of 1.6 in raises, not to mention Demers contract which could get high depending on his play.

Ug, It's hard to think about future years offseasons when this one is already taking forever!

I think Clowes contract will depend on a lot of things from this season, does Couture score 100 points and get a huge contract? Does Burns stay? and at what cost. And lastly (not really as in leaving a bunch out) does Clowe want to play for SJ forever or look for a bigger payday?

Dont forget to factor in cap raise. Makes everyone get more money, like inflation

Dubinsky gets TOI way beyond Clowe. Malone did as well at the time of the contract and I suspect Ladd will too. TOI goes into the wage formula.

Same is true for dmen. If Vlasic and Demers don't surpass 20min TOI, they will have a hard time surpassing $3mil. In direct salary, Vlasic is overpaid for his contributions from last year. Right now, Hejda is the best UFA comparable. Gorges is an RFA comp. Both make less than Vlasic.

I think Murray will get much more if he stays on the top pairing with Boyle, and he'd deserve. Plus, we're talking about a GM who gave Nic Wallin $2.5M here.

Im under the impression that our top pairing will now be Vlasic-Burns and Murray-Boyle will become our #2 pairing.

This should also put Pickles at roughly 23mins per game, warranting a 3.5m cap hit IMO.

Vlasic should be 3.5 max, anything more will be an overpayment for what he brings. It should really only be $3M but like others said, with inflation and other factors, 3.5 sounds about right.

I have to disagree. Vlasic is no 30 point defender, but he is a solid shutdown defender, and i think his salary is perfect at 3.1-3.5mill

The cap raise will definitely inflate their contracts, could see Clowe getting $5M and Vlasic $3-4M

I love Clowe and all, but he really shouldn't get more than $4.5, unless he breaks out this year for 70+ points.

Clowe 4 years, 18 mil
Vlasic 2 years, $6 mil (for another team, sorry guys)
Murray 3 years, $8.5 mil

Demers is hard to gauge because he's coming off an injury, the league is just beginning to know him and he'll be playing with a new partner (Vandermeer). He could explode for 40 points or he could regress

Let Vlasic walk if it's over $3.5m.

Can't spend loot like that on softies with no offense. Poke checks and positioning don't (shouldn't?) earn anything over that, inflation be damned.

Who is his agent? Is he a hard-baller? Very anxious to see how Vlasic fairs this year paired w/ Burns. If Pickles has a very good year, I can see DW locking him up for another 4yrs w/ slight overpayment before his current contract expires.Anyone know the comps for a shutdown Dman w/ Vlasic's skill set?

With the cap as it is, 4 million for him isn't going to break the bank and isn't out of line for what he brings. If he plays with Burns and they become a successful shutdown pairing both at ES and on the PK, he'll have earned that.

As a fan of a rival team, I would give Clowe 5M without much deliberation. Money doesn't go nearly as far in a 64M cap world as it used to and if guys like Fleischmann and Leino are getting 4.5 on long term contracts you would have to think Clowe deserves more. Even Laich signed with his home town team for 4.5/year long term.

He seems like a pretty great team first guy though, so he might re-sign with you guys long term @ 4M/year out of loyalty.

I would be shocked if he got under 5M/year on the open market.
