Guys, guys, guys. Irving is terrible, his positioning is awful and his glove hand is non-existent. He is awful and Kipper is the only reason we have won any game ever since the beginning of existence.

...oh wait, we won? Forget about what I just said. I GUESS Irving is okay, now that I realize literally one of the three goals was his fault and everyone *****ing about him is ****ing loony.

Yea we weren't great tonight but this is a game we would have found a way to lose under Sutter. I think Irving was good numbers don't say so but he made did the job.

All that I was looking for from Irving tonight was a win. He had some good outings last year, some shaky outings, but what he didn't demonstrate was the ability to get his team a win, and he did that tonight.

Brodie had 2 assists tonight and imo has become a top 4 defensemen.

Best part about a goal in OT is that we can't immediately give up the tying goal.

With the way the team plays defense, no goalie is going to have stellar stats here. But if they can get the job done - like Irving did during overtime where he made some solid saves as the team was scrambling a bit - that's all that really matters.

Under Sutter, this team would never have recovered after going down 2-1.

Didnt like the first goal on irving. second one he could have had but not his fault. that puck should have been cleared long before the goal. i missed the third goal... but still he makes me nervous.

Yeah, I think last season we were lucky to break 200 posts on most games

Irving has many deficiencies not found in a steady #1 NHL-calibre goaltender.
In fact, the win tonight, especially with the last-minute powerplay, had less to do with Irving playing spectacularly and making the big save and much more to do with a slow and unmotivated Columbus team giving up a 4 on 2 in early OT.

He can make the routine saves, but he is also quite obviously not up to NHL speed yet - a good play makes him look like he was burned and had no chance, while I would say that a regular like Kiprusoff, Brodeur, Luongo, etc., would have at least had a fighting chance due to experience and regular play at the NHL level.

He was screened by Giordano with the third goal. Rather than take the passing lane away, Giordano tried to block it but failed.

Last season, many of our GDT's ended anywhere between 4-6 pages. It would be a real good one if we had 8+ pages. It's like night and day.

This. A game against Columbus would only merit 50-75 posts.

Big win. Irving wasn't great - gave up a couple questionable goals - but was otherwise decent.

Back to .500.

Just a question for everyone - what did you think of Bobrovsky's play tonight?
Aside from the Stempniak goal which was a sizzler, would you say he played steadily? Or do you feel like he let in bad goals?

Considering he's barely played at all this year, he did well.

He's off the case, lieutenant! I told him to have his badge and gun on my desk by tomorrow morning!

But seriously, I thought he was alright.

Over the last few years, the team relied on Kipper making the big save just to stay competitive. I'd much rather the team get its act together and not have to rely on the goalie to bail them out that way. If the team in front is good enough, you don't need the goalie to make the spectacular save all the time - they just need to be solid enough to not cost the team the win. And Irving did that.

I thought he was bad. He's awful on the glove side and always went down early.
