Yeah I am already of a conclusion this has disaster written all over it. Goes to NYG system that is favorable for TE's and puts up in a contract year

Bears throw money and 4 yr deal at him ,,, Yeah we know how this will go

Guy was an absolute waste of roster spot in Dallas and bigtime disappointment. Blame Romo/Witten all you want but the fact is Bennett didn't put in the effort to improve his game and in end the Cowboys cut ties
If you look at his targets and pro-rate what he did last year to what he did in Dallas, his production is almost the same. For example last year he was targeted 29 times, if he was targeted 90 times like he was in New York, thats 59 receptions, 499 yards. The year before, 62 receptions 488 yards. He put up more big plays in New York but part of that comes from his dedication in the weight room.

"I'm kind of bigger than I was. I'm more muscular than I was in the past. I actually started lifting weights really, really hard. But I'm in the best shape I've ever been. Ask any of the guys in the camp, I'm stronger than I've ever been, I'm faster than I've ever been. I could run all day. I'm kind of like a black unicorn out there. It's amazing to watch. You go out there and you see a big, black guy running down the field, it's usually me. So I'm pretty good out there. It's been great so far."

How about taking Ogletree in the 1st round and Arthur Brown in the 2nd. Fixes your linebacker spots

Why pick a SSLB in the 1st or 2nd?

Ravens are getting gutted because of the Flacco deal

Had to move Boldin and now lost 2 starting LB's to FA

Bennett has some serious talent. Very strong run blocker, good pass blocker. Rated as the #1 all-around TE that was on the market this offseason. Really happy about this signing... assuming reasonable money, of course.

Bennett does fit this team well

Disappeared in 2nd half of Giants season especially the final 4 games ( 11 rec with 89 yds and 1 TD)

@mikecwright: RT @RapSheet: Source: #Bears and reps for #Saints LT Jermon Bushrod are finishing up a long-term deal. #JayCutlersmiles

Not sure how I feel about this. Bushrod didn't grade out much higher than Webb last season. Bushrod is going to cost a lot of money. Still need a Guard as well, but Kromer knows this guy, so hopefully it works for us.

I'm really happy about this signing too. I actually REALLY wanted the Bears to get him LAST year, but we resigned Davis and he went to NYG. The knock on Bennett in Dallas was mainly that he didn't get much playing time behind Witten (obviously) and as a result was a bit lazy. Word is last year he really took a step forward and matured. Plus, he's tight with Marshall, and Marshall's competitive personality I think will be a GOOD fit with him in Chicago, and I think Bennett continues to step forward.

He does have the physical talents to be great. He can run block well as well, and is a 3-down guy. He's basically a perfect fit for this team, and a better fit than Cook would have been.

Really like this signing and can't wait to see him on the field.

Bears give former Saints OT Jermon Bushrod a five-year deal, as well.

I'd be happy with just one of those guys. I'd also think that Tavon Austin is on the radar for the first round, but in all honesty, I expect a team like the Vikings to leapfrog us and get him. Our draft day will be interesting, that's for sure. We are a little bit harder to read right now, but I would expect a LB in the first two rounds.

Definitely think LB is an option at 20. LB, RT, WR

I don't know about RT...I think we go Guard as an option in Round 1. WR and LB, definitely in play.

Did he really grade out just slightly better than Webb? I sure hope not.... How much is Brees' mobility and ability to throw on the run factored into that? Brees could make his sacks allowed numbers look better based on that tidbit alone.

Really wish we went all out and went for Long.

Someone said he did according to Pro Football Focus. But then again, the Saints threw the ball about 200 times more than the Bears, and that is a really rough division for edge rushers. He did make the Probowl the last 2 seasons...but that's really not a great judge of a players capabilities --- especially on the O-Line.

IMO he has to be an upgrade over Webb though. I'm sure if it.

I'm not convinced Long was worth it. Although, he hasn't signed yet, so his price is probably dropping.

@BradBiggs: #Bears give Jermon Bushrod $35.965 million over five years with $17.715 guaranteed.

It will be interesting to see how the cap hits are structured.

@BradBiggs: RT @CJ_Octagon: According to scouts here at KSU, Arthur Brown was clocked in at 4.56-4.66 in his 40. Also had 21 reps at 225. #NFLDraft

That's pretty solid, measurables wise.

There are only 2 1st round guards and both are projected to be gone by 20

Also, this is why it behooves teams to draft and develop left tackles. They cost a ton in free agency

Bushrod signing/contract is laughable

Emery continues to fail badly as GM with Marshall deal his only postiive at this point

DHB released by Oakland ,, Would be nice deep ball/speed threat for Bears if they could find cap room for him
