Seems like a lot of youth to give up for an aging star. Unlikely to happen but if Pitt wanted to increase their chances this year then maybe...

Would be one that I would think about for a bit then decline. I and other Pens fans have high hope for Morrow.

Change Morrow to Pouliot and I'd do it.

One defenseman, yes. Not two. Replace the second defenseman with a Kennedy, Jeffrey, Boychuk, Dupuis, Cooke, whatever and I would definitely do it.

You give them one D prospect, a first and maybe a third in 2014 and that is it. Two D prospects and those picks for a rental is way too much - even for Iginla.

I think the Pens overpay but realistically overpayment is what it will take to get Iginla. That said I would hope the Pens pass on this, Morrow has too much potential to trade for a rental.

Pretty easy no from the Penguins.

Morrow is untouchable. Check out one of the millions of Pens threads out there in which people ask for Morrow+ for their aging UFA.

well maybe the picks can be conditional picks only if he signs with pittsburgh the next year?

Personally speaking I'd much rather see them give up a 1st than Joe Morrow unless it was a lottery pick or something.

If the Pens were going to go all in on a rental this season I'd kind of prefer it was Corey Perry, but maybe that's just me. And that's coming from someone who admires Iginla and can't stand Perry.

It's not that, it's that losing a couple years worth of first round picks is tough.

I wouldn't say Morrow is proven yet, either, but that's another story.

I'd rather the Pens try for a younger, cheaper winger.

I love what Iginla brings, but his age and contract status concern me.

You have to give to get and this trade definitely benefits both teams. I would be hesitant to pull the trigger for an aging winger who would be gone in a few years for defensemen who have legitimate potential, but the value is there. And the Flames certainly won't want our third line grinders like Kennedy for their captain.

I wouldn't mind this deal as a last resort when rolling into the playoffs.

EDIT: None of the Penguins big defensive prospects are proven, with the exception of Simon Despres, and Morrow was struggling a bit in the AHL so I'm not about to pencil him into the top 4 yet.

Its not a value thing...the value is probably there. The problem is...the Penguins are NOT giving up Morrow. End of story. His is a HUGE part of the Penguins defensive future.

Same with Harrington and hopefully Pouliot. There is no reason for the Penguins to ship him out for an aged rental. That is extremely poor asset management.

Let me say this again in case there's **** in anyone's ears...the Penguins are NOT trading Morrow!

Morrow + anything for Iginla is NOT happening. End of story. The same way Edmonton isn't trading RNH, Hall, Eberle, Yaks for Iginla...

That's 1 too many blue chip d-prospects going the other way. Shero isn't going to over pay that much. Granted, it would take an over payment to get Iginla. Just not that big of one.

I would say something similar to the Hossa deal, without the 1st being in play.
