He must have been out of his mind during the post game tonight... Because I don't understand how he can say the stuff he said without either being highly sarcastic in such a way that we don't see the sarcasm or perhaps directed by Wang to say this stuff.

I'm in on this one. He isn't working with much, but I'm not seeing any changes in their game to get out of this funk.

Has there been any "Cappy must go!" chants during games?

I agree. I don't think he's tweaked enough. And the times he has-it's failed. I know he doesn't have much to work with-but at the end of the day it's about getting the job done-and he doesn't.

Exactly.
How many players has JT played with 5 on 5 this year?

THREE. That's one more than what is minimally possible.

The top line is MINUS THIRTY FOUR. TRY SOMETHING DIFFERENT YOU FOOL.

The Islanders have given up more goals in the 3rd period than anyone else in the NHL by a wide margin.

http://www.nhl.com/ice/teamstats.htm...=goalsByPeriod

In fact, the teams listed below have allowed FEWER GOALS IN THE SECOND AND THIRD COMBINED than the Islanders in just the third period...

Boston
Anaheim
NYR
Ottawa
Chicago
Minnesota

I think this is a problem of coaching, when you look at the stats across the board. Cappy must go. The few remaining fans going to games need to make their voices heard to fire Cappy. He is a joke of a coach.

Last night, two guys a few row in front of me started one. I joined in, but I think we were the only 3 doing it. Then I heard someone a row or two behind me ask "Who's that?", so there you go...

He fans this fire in the presser saying that he thought about moving Grabner around tonight but it was going so well he didn't. And there you have it. He thinks the game is over after because the third period wasn't going so well. He nust have missed it. The most even strength goals on the team. Fastest guy on the team. Better defensively than most people here give him credit for. 4 damn shifts in the third, including one on the pk. 7 shifts and twice as much time for Okposo. Even Cizikas deserves a little more than he got.

How about a time-out with about 6 minutes to go to start the PP fresh? They had and got nothing from that PP, could even gain the zone. Terrible.

One section got into it, but nowhere near loud enough for Capuano himself to hear.

Even if it's not Capuano as the problem, I think this team just needs a change of personality behind the bench. Clearly, they're capable of playing great hockey, but it's just inconsistent and that has to do with Cap.

I went to the last game tonight and confirmed many of my long held beliefs about our coaching staff because I had seats in Row B of the 2nd section directly behind our teams bench.

What I saw:

1) Just as I thought, Capuano stands behind the bench all game and does absolutely nothing. Absolutely. Nothing. The only time I saw him really do anything was when he drew up a play on the TO.

2) Weight and Thompson were talking to the players the entire game as well as walking over to Cappy and talking to him numerous times. It was almost as if Weight and Thompson were ACTUALLY the ones coaching the team?!

I'm pretty much convinced, like another poster on here told me (Dan-O I believe), that Capuano is literally just a puppet that is kept there by Snow and Wang. He keeps his mouth shut and doesn't deviate from management. He is the right man for the job here, but unfortunately that is not in the way that it should be.

I've also been noticing this. I don't think I have ever seen assistant coaches talking to the head coach during a game in the NHL as often as Weight and Thompson do with Cap.

It almost seems as Cap can't make any decisions on his own. During his post game you always hear things like "it will be up to our staff," or when asked about goaltending he says "I'll leave that to Mike Dunham."

How about you take some accountability you ****ing jackass? You're the head coach, stop relying on everybody else. Jesus Christ what a joke.

This sums up Capuano and the Islanders...

Arthur Staple ‏@StapeNewsday
Capuano says Nabokov in goal tomorrow vs. Panthers. Hickey likely back in lineup. Felt team played well enough on Friday, no changes needed.

That may be the signal that the tanking has begun.

If we get Jones or MacKinnon, I am ok with that at this point.

I wish there was some way they could communicate that to us, perhaps with a wink towards the camera during the interview...

Summary: The talent on this roster can't be expected to win a game against a better opponent and he is pleased that they all showed up to work on time.

That's the bar this coach sets for our promising youth. That's the coach Snow hired for the position, and that's the coach Chuck Wang feels is the best person he can pay for the job.

I wonder is Cappy lost the team. If so, he must be fired so the team starts believing again..

the team has been outscored in the third period, what, 10-0 in the last three games? I just can't imagine what he needs to do in order to get sacked..

No kidding.

These guys, the owner, GM and coach seem content in losing. It's disgusting.

Mediocrity means success and even that they are content to get close to mediocre.

Pitts didn't even play well. Crosby had an average-to-poor game by his standards, Malkin wasn't there, what a joke of a franchise.

Embarrassment.
