I'm really torn on this proposal to be honest. I like it a lot, but it doesn't address either of our two more dire needs in a replacement #1 PK center and top pairing defender.
Do you guys have another McClement you can throw in to make me ok with it?
I honestly don't believe Perron will be like Mueller. Perron got hit hard one time, and I think he's past that. Obviously it's impossible to know, but I think it's solid value for both teams, although I can understand Colorado's hesitation.
I would definitely do it.
@ Lonewolfe, would you want Scott Nichol? I'd be willing to throw him in. Now I'm not sure that helps you guys at all because he's a 4th-liner with no offensive capabilities at all, but he's a good PK'er.

Too old and washed up.
We basically need a cloned McClement that doesn't want to leave us for Toronto for less money to ease the loss of O'Reilly's PK presence. If we had McClement it wouldn't be hurting us as much having Ryan holdout.
I'm also ignoring the very real possibility Perron gets traded here and is instantly KO'd. We are a snakebitten franchise when it comes to players traded our way...

Yeah that's what I figured. Can't help you there. Sobotka would be the right guy for you but we wouldn't throw him in a deal like this.
The last line about Perron made me chuckle. Hey, our organization knows a thing or two about being snake-bitten as well.
Let's not get in another stupid argument. ROR doesn't offer the offensive ability that we need.
What? Kind of ironic how you say let's not get into a stupid argument and then follow it up with that comment.
Ryan O'Reilly had more points than anyone on the Blues last season. He is good offensively and great defensively. He is exactly what the Blues need at center.

He is a great 2 way forward, but we need a more naturally gifted offensive center. ROR is very good, but he just adds to what we already have and by trading Perron, we lose a more offensive player, which we don't have a lot of.
i am a huge fan of both teams. i watch all their games.
the only concern i have is perron/lando both on LW.
that said... what i would not give to see a goal scorer like Perron play with Duchene... put Lando w/Stastny who typically has done well with power forwards.
two great lines with big scoring threats on LW.
i'd drool over that. with the talent at forward STL has in the pipe and the NHL readiness in Tarasenko the Blues could afford to lose the pure goal scorer.
win-win for both teams, imho. best trade idea for RoR i have seen yet, but it's becuase i am a perron fan bug time haha
Kinda odd because any player is one hit away from a career ending injury. I understand the concern about it but everyone is acting like its a sure thing. Not a Blues or Colorado fan so I'm not too sure on the value. It looks alright. Not sure if it fills any needs though.

This.
The odds of Perron experiencing a career ending injury after being traded to the Avs isn't really any greater than the odds of ROR experiencing a career ending injury after the trade.

Good for the Blues that there are no worries about Perron going forward.
A player being concussed once in his career =/= permanent concussion issues.
This is true. It is equally true that people would prefer a player without a famous concussion in their past (plenty of players get concussions that go unnoticed by most). OP contains an excellent offer regardless of how correct we are about Avalanche management's willingness...there's also the factor of trading within the conference but it would be surprising if another team offered this much value.
I'd do it. But Perron would probably come to Colorado and lose all ability to play hockey since Sacco would force him to master the art of dumping and chasing and take away his creative abilities.

Just so people understand, we're bitter over the number of injuries we face on a regular basis, specifically to new players. Mueller, Flash, Downie of late. Leopold exploded upon putting on an Avs jersey post trade. Kariya/Selanne became decrepit. Foppa returned and then his groin ripped instead of his foot... Our top prospect now can only eat food that's been thoroughly blended. Sakic's career was ended by a snow blower basically and our current captain has a concussion.
We're an emergency room's worst nightmare on ice. So the thought of anyone recently having overcame a serious injury scares the crap outta us.
