Survivor Series 2012 records lowest SS buyrate ever

At the WWE conference call yesterday, the Q4 numbers were revealed for pay-per-views. Hell in a Cell recorded 199,000 buys, up from 182,000 buys in 2011. Survivor Series recorded 208,000 buys, down significantly from 281,000 buys in 2011. Tables, Ladders and Chairs recorded 175,000 buys, down slightly from 179,000 buys in 2011.

The previous lowest Survivor Series buyrate was 228,000, in 1995. The event was headlined by CM Punk defending against Ryback and John Cena.

Expecting them to even be in the same realm as SS2011 (headlined by The Rock) is unreasonable. I am a little surprised it was the lowest SS buy rate ever though, and by quite a large amount. Probably because the build was all about Ryback. It was terrible.

the PPVs are too expensive and they can't compete with the UFC. They should go back to the "In Your House" prices for the non-major ones ($20)

Ryback doesn't draw. Silly WWE. Funny thing is SS still has more buys than almost any other 3-hour PPV.

Do you think that will more than double the amount of PPV buys to make up for cutting the price by more than half?

Probably because Vince completely overhauled the card three weeks before the event. They essentially turned a 5-week build into a 3-week build due to Vince's indecisiveness.

I guarantee the original plan of Team Foley vs. Team Punk would have drawn better. Maybe not terribly better, but a main event of Punk vs two guys he's consecutively beaten at the last two PPV's is terrible.

Couple that with a SS match of Mysterio + 9 jobbers, a WHC re-match, and a Diva's match.....it was an awful card.

Ziggler going over on Orton and The Shield's debut were the only things worth mentioning.
