Where does Joe Sakic rank all time?

All time in terms of centers? And all time for players in general?

I would put him top 10 and top 5 for all time canadians.

In last (2009) project of TOP 70 players, Sakic is ranked 11 among centers. Not saying they surpass him but Crosby and especially Malkin have strong starts in their careers.

Can't see him any worse than top 25. Maybe 30 at the very worst. There are at least 5-6 centers ahead of him no doubt, but that isn't a knock by any means. Insane longevity at a rather high level is something that always leads you back to Sakic. He doesn't really have a gap in his career which is another amazing thing about him. Strangely enough was probably underrated until about 1996.

here are the top centers and overall rank from the last top 70 list

1 Wayne Gretzky
4 Mario Lemieux
7 Jean Beliveau
11 Howie Morenz
15 Stan Mikita
20 Phil Esposito
21 Bobby Clarke
22 Mark Messier
26 Bryan Trottier
27 Fred "Cyclone" Taylor
28 Edouard "Newsy" Lalonde
32 Joe Sakic
36 Steve Yzerman
38 Syl Apps, Sr.
45 Joe Malone
48 Frank Boucher
50 Marcel Dionne
55 Henri Richard
57 Max Bentley
65 Peter Forsberg
70 Ted Kennedy

I think there is a really strong argument to put Sakic up close to where Mikita is

Sakic 10 top 10 finishes in a 21-30 team league
Mikita 9 in a 6-12 team league.

I think that after Wayne, and Mario to a lesser degree, that there is a ton of room for variance on the order of the above guys depending on how one treats era, composition of the league, peak, prime, career, playoff, international play and intangibles.
