Re-acquired the player.

Personally would like it if they were referred to and treated as four separate "conferences". This way, Stanley Cup Final match ups could be any "conference" vs any "conference".

It would make for a lot of interesting Finals, that haven't previously been possible.

And hopefully the "conferences" or "divisions" have unique/meaningful names.

Orr, Gretzky, Messier, Howe

Something like that.
What I like about this is that teams will compete for playoff spots against teams with the same schedule. Since conferences are necessary due to travel constraints rather than a straight series I feel this is the most fair arrangement.

Currently teams from different divisions compete for the same playoff spots with different schedules, which if you think about it is quite ridiculous. It is very different playing the SE 6 times and the other eastern divisions 4, than playing the ATL 6 times. So scoring 100p in the SE is different than 100p in the ATL and they shouldn't be compared.

While the team strength in the different conferences might differ, the teams competing for the same spots are at least doing this on the same terms, which makes it more sporting IMO.

So what is it the first two rounds will be teams playing each other in the division? Honestly I get tired of Atlantic teams and want to play teams from other divisions. Plus we get screwed because our division is stacked. ****ing brutal.

Detroit looking good again. They're good every year. Model franchise. They're the team I look up too. A contender every year (or close to it), always entertaining. This is a team that wouldn't have useless goons like Bickel and Rupp on it. I know a lot of hockey fans like the rough stuff an physicality. I've always preferred skill. Not that those 2 things are mutually exclusive.

Really not in favor of the realignment plan TBH, specifically division playoffs. But it is what it is.

Fleury is like a quarterback that either throws beautiful bombs or INTs. He either makes fantastic saves or gives up awful goals.

Why is there realignment anyway? All I can think of is Winnipeg being stuck in the southeast. It can't be one team can it?

BTW, can someone tell me how Fleury won a cup and was in the finals 2 straight years? Boggles my mind. His career has been on huge bell curve. Started as garbage, was great for 2 seasons, back to garbage.

The problem with realignment also is what happens to teams that might move? If Phoenix ends up in Seattle or even in Hamilton or Quebec City, we gotta go through this all over again.

Bettman and all these schmuck owners can smile and think realignment is wonderful until;

A. Certain teams finish 5th or 6th a few years in a row with more points than teams in other divisions in 3rd or 4th. Yeah, fan A's team losses five games in a row once during a season and doesn't make it in the playoffs; wonderful.

B. How is this going to grow a fanbase if certain teams are first round lunch every year? The Jets of the 80s were hurt because they had to go against the Oilers or Flames every year and could never make it past them. Same with the Whalers. Same with the Nordiques. The Capitals never got out of round 2 until 1990.

I don't think this is the best solution for growing the game.

its amazing how easily detroit enters the offensive zone. the dump and chase is a last resort for them. how the rangers struggle with it so much boggles my mind.

Datsyuk always makes great things happen. Horrible goal by Allen, but Datsyuk made everything happen on that one.

On TSN's intermission show, Aaron Ward said we're the most likely Eastern Conference team to acquire O'Reilly. He thinks it'll be a complicated deal with multiple pieces going to each side. I personally doubt it. Too early and we're playing too well for that kind of major shakeup, and we don't really have the prospects to deal for him at this point.

I'm sure that part of this is that the Rangers are rumored to be involved in every single high profile free agent and trade candidate.
