Won't comment on the LA deal but Carolina can't/won't be moving Gleason to bring back Cole. Their defense is soft enough as it is and the reason they didn't resign Cole was because of his asking price/term (which we got in MTL).

Actually, I think not signing Cole was regretted a bit, and the canes would probably be willing to take him back, but the problem is that our forward core is in good shape now, while our D is in desperate need of attention. Gleason and Harrison are our only real defensive D men, and obviously Gleason is the better one. He's just not expendable unless whoever's coming back takes his place or better.

Had the Canes signed Cole, the Staal and Semin deals may not have happened. Ruutu was essentially given Coles money a year later. Potentially resigning Semin and preparing for Faulk's raise and Skinner's cap hit increase means Cole probably won't be coming back this way.

I don't know Jordan Nolan but Desharnais > Simon Gagne

and for the Cole trade, if that guy don't wake up soon, you can trade him for a 5th

I think the Kings would do this. Nolan would be sorely missed as he is showing allot of promise and playing solid on our bottom 6. Big kid who does everything pretty well.

Gagne is playing well for us but who knows how long that will last or if he will come back next season.

I would love Leblanc in LA and Desharniasis an exceptionally skilled player.

I would do it as an LA fan.

This would definitely be a deal to look long and hard at. If I recall correctly Leblanc was a prospect the LA staff liked in his draft year. Personally I think Gagne has been one of LAs better forwards this year and his speed is really an asset to our lineup. I like Desharnais skill and compete level but wonder how he'd fit in Sutters system. As for Nolan I think the kids got more upside than Dwight King. I'm just glad that it looks like the two of them will see some time with Richards at center.

If u guy think Gleason as more value then cole your out of your mind !! It true that cole as been slow since the beginning of the season but it doesn't meen we have to give him for free !! Cole is still a 25-30 goal scorer and believe me even with a slow start people will call MB at the deadline to offer a lot .. Look at the penner trade .. Penner is a big cow and still got a big return !! As for the LA trade it won't happen .... We don't need or want gagne !!

Mtl lose the 2 trade big time .. The carolina trade is insulting

Yep, I agree 100% with what you said.

I would rather move King than Nolan too and Gagne has definitely brought some much needed speed too.

On Desharnais ability to flourish under DS I want to believe that he would do well given the chance but it still has to be seen.

DD would be your... 3rd line centre ? If he has someone who can finish, he'd do well.

However, Gagne is great and all, but I just know that when he would play here he'd instantly suck and see to develop these massive Chris Higgins stone hands.

The habs add to the trade dd vs gagne ?

you can't be serious...

I can't see MB trade a young player who got 60 pts at his first season for a player who got 5 commotion and who is at the end of his career.

Don't like the Carolina deal at all as it kills what little defense and toughness we have.

Gagné is the better player. Even with all his injuries he isn't <<< DD....

To be brutally honest, that Carolina offer doesn't even get a discussion going. Cole would be nice, but not at that salary for 3 years, and not on the terms that he left last time. Giving up a core piece of our defense is out of the question.

As a Hab fan I'd rather wait until the off-season and see if we can sign him to a reasonable contract as a UFA. we should let a contending team send you some young assets for him for this year.

If I was trading Leblanc I'd want Forbert to be coming back and if Montreal needs to add, fine.

Leblanc is a decent enough player, he didn't look out of place in the NHL last year and Leblanc has a high ankle sprain this year, which is keeping him from showing what he can do.

I'd offer Cole for Rask + a 2013 2nd.
