He tried to throw a hipcheck, not end his career. Do yourself (and all of us, frankly) a favour and step away from the keyboard. Now grab a drink, go for a walk or do whatever it is you do when you need to calm down and do that. Then come back ready to take part in the discussion.

This advice goes to anyone, really.

You don't skate up to a player like Orr to talk. Both Gionta and Bourque are obviously idiots if they can simply walk up to Orr, especially Bourque. Orr knew he incited a questionable event against Plekanac and was ready to go and fight. Is Bourque dumb or something? Orr had already dropped his gloves and Bourque grabbed him. Orr had no idea who it was - his kill switch was engaged when the gloves are dropped and he is surrounded by red jerseys. No one in their right mind would grab him unless he was ready to go.
You do realize that neither Gionta nor Borque dropped their gloves.
Gionta went to grab him, Orr throws his gloves and clocks him, Borque goes to grab Orr, he clocks him too.

I don't see how, what Orr did was justifiable, but talking to Leaf fans is like talking to a putting green.

Take your forearm and push it against your teeth as hard as you can (but don't bite), almost till you can make your neck snap back.

See if you have any teeth marks.

It's not conclusive.

And did you actually watch the game? Orr throws a HIP, not a knee. Completely clean. Great read by Plekanec to avoid the hit. Even better reads by Gionta and Bourque's orbital bones in absorbing Colton's fist.

Who does Plekanac think he is? You think attempt to bully Orr and not get a response? He isn't throwing Gionta's stick. Orr attempts to end careers on a daily basis and puts his career on the line every game. And he sticks to guys with the same mentality... unless you start something with him. Smurfs should stick to picking on smurfs so they don't get pummeled by the giants in the league. Orr has the entire team watching him in a 5-0 game and some smurf tosses his stick and thinks he's tough. Good luck, pal. Orr never touches smurfs are unless they poke the bear.

You're raging over nothing. Their was NO KNEE. NONE. You're emotional right now but once you calm down you'll realize this was overblown.

Here's a picture of Orr trying his patented "knee-less knee" play. He's also writing a book: Kneeing Without Kneeing

Do you hear yourself? You're right, it was orr/gionta and then Bourque jumped in. That right there gives orr the right to deck bourque. He will not get any sympathy from Shannahan or the hockeyworld. If you're 3rd man in you're fair game.

I'm pretty sure you use your hip for hip checks, not your left knee. Like 99% sure....

Yet, they grabbed Orr - who was ungloved. People that drop their gloves are ready to throw. All hockey players know that. Why would anyone go up to Orr? To hug? To scold him?

No one wants to accept the truth. We didn't run around like goons whatsoever, we responded when a bunch of real sore losing Habs started trouble. We just happen to have a lot better personnel for that type of situation, simple as that. They were outmatched, and when they stirred up trouble they couldn't handle it.

And to the person complaining about McLaren taking on Gorges.

He barely even fought, he laughed the entire time at the notion of entertaining that mismatch.

Lastly, I like the Habs, mainly because I have a lot of close friends who are Habs fans, and I enjoy hearing about them winning against other teams than the Leafs, but you guys are acting like complete children about this loss.

If you guys strongly and truly believe that multiple players of ours should be suspended, then I'm sure Shanahan will make the proper choice. Otherwise, just accept this loss as a poorly played game. This doesn't make our team better than yours, it was a single game that your players let get out of hand. That happened multiple times to us last year and we (at least tried) to keep our bitterness to our own PGT.

Get over it, seriously. This was one regular season game. Looking forward to the next meeting.
Gorges makes a lot of smart hockey decisions.

This was not one of them.
