Officially One Quarter Through The Season

12 games in, 1/4 of the way there.

PER GAME STATS:

TEAM POINTS: 1.17 (6th East, 13th Overall)

GOALS SCORED: 2.83 (5th East, 10th Overall)
GOALS AGAINST: 2.58 (5th East, 11th Overall)

POWER PLAY: 15.0% (13th East, 24th Overall)
PENALTY KILL: 77.5% (9th East, 20th Overall)

OTHER STATS:

FACEOFFS: 54.3 (2nd East, 4th Overall)
TEAM HITS: 328 (1st East, 1st Overall)

(Note: The only Team Stat that I don't have updated numbers for that I wanted to include was team save percentage - going into tonight we were at .905, which was 8th in the East and 18th overall. I think we're somwhere around .915 now which is just bordering on top-10.).

Discuss.

Team Save Percentage is .914. That should be very close to top-5 in the East and Top-10 in the league tommorrow.

PLUS/MINUS: -5 (13th East, 26th Overall)
HOME GOALS FOR: 9 (14th East, 26th Overall)
HOME BLOCKED SHOTS: 47 (15th East, 27th Overall)
HOME GIVEAWAYS: 65 (13th East, 27th Overall)

Our home record is ABYSMAL at best. Some of these stats need to improve if we are to be worthy of a playoff-bound season. Also, team +/- is not exactly a promising stat, either.

Really surprised in team hitting and faceoffs (even w/o Steckel).

Adding that physical presence under Carlyle's system has improved our game greatly. If we can improve our PK and PP, then the Leafs will make the playoffs.

Also, we have to improve our overall play at home.

I'm sure you meant Northeast, not East. With that I'll say we have the best away record in the Eastern conference, so one or the other will surely even out.

Carlyle's impact cannot be overstated. It's a wonder what competent coaching can do.

I still don't think this team is good enough for the playoffs. That being said, Reimer's showing that his first season perhaps might not have been a fluke and Kadri's finally given that chance. We've still got a hell of a long way to go though. If we get Ryan Getzlaf or any high-class UFA this season, I'll start believing.

Team +/- is actually +3, which is 6th in the East, 12th overall.

Interestingly, our record right now would equal 23.9 pts if the season were 82 games, so at the quarter mark the points totals are the same.

with the cap space we have, we should be able to add 2 notable free agents. 3 if we buy out komi. Along with Reilly and Gardiner coming back, we can significantly improve.

Thanks! Don't know how to feel about being in the same spot we're in last year but I am cautiously optimistic we may sneak into the playoffs. Just need to figure out how to win at home.

better to get rid of Komi and still stick with 2 - we need flexibility to give Kadri a raise, keep Bozak, re-sign Kessel with a raise...

Perry/Getzlaf as a combo makes a lot of sense to me.
