Refs! Can a goalie drop his glove to shoot?

Been looking everywhere without any clear answer - playing in a low skill level league, and was wondering if the goalie can drop his glove to shoot the puck with his dominant hand, and then put the glove back on.

Specifically, is the act of intentionally dropping his glove illegal?

Would love any thoughts/answers... Thanks!!

USA Hockey rulebook and casebook page 62:

"If the referee judges the goalkeeper has deliberately removed any equipment during play he should assess the offending goalkeeper a 'Delay of Game' minor penalty."

It's delay of game in any league. When the goalie loses his glove, the ref has to whistle the play dead, so deliberately removing the glove is a penalty.

jacobstable, I assume you're a new goalie who's having trouble handling the puck with your catcher on? If so, just keep practising, you'll get it eventually.

New goalies shouldn't be worrying about playing the puck anyway

Pretty much the best advice in this thread. New goalies should only leave the crease area or play the puck in case of emergency.
