5.250 x 4 years also.

He is only 26. It would kill a potential Marc Staal deal unless we moved Joni.

But:
Yandle / Joni
Gleason / Faulk
Harrison/ McBain
****ing Corvo

Maybe making room later for Marc...
Yandle / Staal
Gleason / Faulk

Yeah....

Or
Yandle / Joni
Staal / Faulk

Ruutu (when healthy) could be added to a potential yandle deal. Have to be off season obviously.

Jokinen is having a bad start, but he's quite capable of a top 6 role, if that would make sense for the pens. Plays any forward position.

Giordano would be a good fit on the Canes, they could really use a shot blocker and my guess is his style would mesh perfectly with Pitkanen on the second pair. First pick is steep but if this deal were offered I can't imagine Carolina not taking it.

What would be your thoughts on Stajan? since Carolina could really use a decent 3rd-line center as well.

Yandle would be a huge plus for Carolina

Yandle

For

Murphy
McBain
2nd Round Pick

If Phoenix is trading Yandle they want a top line forward. they have no use for Murphy (already have Rundblad and Gormley in the minors) Im not even sure Mcbain makes their squad (they have a deep defense).

That was actually a better F than I thought you´d give up. I don´t think he fits what the Pens are looking for though.

Robidas?

He's a borderline #4 at best, but he would be cheap. 3rd or 4th round pick maybe.

Robustas would help a lot. Definitely an option for the trade deadline.

Would the Hurricanes be interested in Douglas Murray?

I think Chad LaRose would be a good fit on the Sharks.

I could see that during the Draft maybe. It would free up space for McD to be signed.
It would start with Murphy + for Staal

Actually Ballard is healthy again and back to playing as a top 3 or 4. If the Canucks could work out a trade with Columbus for Savard or Goloubev allowing Edler back to LD, I could actually see a Ballard for Jokinen making sense to both GM's. Both are good players, but not first sting/first pairing players, but they fill a specific weak area on both teams.

The biggest question is what Columbus would expect for one of those young RD's. Both have the potntial to grow into top fours but right now they would be third pairing on most teams so shouldn't cost an arm and a leg. I'm thinking that Vancouver's most tradable forward that would be if interest to Coumbus would be Higgins. Speed, can score and good defensive awareness, but replaceable on the Canucks.

Quincey is a #4 defenseman who can play in ALL situations and can be had cheap.

Higgins seems like he would be a nice fit and would potentially be welcome, but we need RWs, not LWs. Is he still effective on the off wing?

Actually last season he lined up quite often on the right side of Kesler and even a couple of times centering our third line. If Higgins isn't suitable, the following might be:

Lapierre - plays centre or RW 2nd, 3rd or 4th line - great defensively & a workhorse. Likes to get opposition players riled and off their game.

Malhotra - plays all forward positions. Not as good as he was before his eye injury, but still one of the best faceoff artists in the league, strong defensively and excellent in the locker room

Wiese - bottom 6 RW. heavy hitter, good defensively, will drop the gloves

Rodin - Rookie potential 2nd or 3rd line RW - known for his scoring and scrappy attitude on swedish mens league, but hasn't been able to crack the Canucks lineup. Up against Burrows, Kassian, Booth, Hansen, Raymond and fellow prospect Jensen may be the reason he's still in the minors.

Of all of the above, I would say Higgins still fits your team the best, with Malhotra and Lapierre close behind. If Columbus was willing to trade both Savard and Goloubev to the Canucks at the same time (probably not in the Jacket's best interest as that cuts too deep into your defensive depth), I could see either Raymond or Booth plus a pick (not a 1st) heading your way. Both play well on either wing and have speed to burn.

Vancouver and Columbus are actually not bad trading partners. So is Vancouver and Carolina.

Top-4 dman is a little vague IMO. There's a big difference between a #1 and a #4 defenseman. Unless you're looking for the Canes to make a huge trade, it's probably safe to say you're thinking they should add a second-pairing D.

If Carolina is looking for a rental and the Jets are out of contention at the deadline, I think Hainsey will be one of the better rentals available on D - was an OFD earlier in his career and plays more of a shutdown role now, albeit not a physical one. Besides which, they won't be division rivals much longer at that point

Specifically, Carolina needs a defenseman that is positionally sound, can block shots, clear the crease and hit people. Suggestions I've seen that I like: Scott Hannan, Doug Murray, Mark Giordano, Ryan O'Byrne.
