Okposo for Clutterbuck

First proposal ever so go easy.

Kyle Okposo for Cal Clutterbuck. Maybe each team adds- perhaps Matt Carkner from the Isles. Josh Harding from Minn if Isles add a young goalie. Discuss.

I think Okposo is worth more, being signed long term. But not bad value.

Okposo/Poulin for Cbuck/Harding? I could get ok with this.

LOL bad proposal IMO Mike Milbury is'nt GM no more

Okposo have a ton of potential...clutterbuck is just an agitator...Isles have already matt Martin as leader in hit departement and fearless fighter

okposo is probably availlable, but for an offensive element or an upgrade at defense...not a clutterbuck...

Perhaps Minn could add a little. Isles could use more grit so Cal fills a big need.

Martin is the only one that provides that element amongst the forwards. The Isles could have 2 lines that would cause Dmen to keep their heads up.

Perhaps Minn could add a little. I was surprised their goal scoring numbers are closer than I thought. Cal 60 in 316 games, KO 69 in 283 games

Isles with their 3rd period meltdowns and their inability to stop 2-3 game losing streaks, from quickly spiraling into 7-8 game losing streaks, need a Peca still in his prime or a Cryin Ryan still in his prime to lead by example in the top 6.

They don't need to overpay for Clutterbuck in a frustration move.

Giving up on Okposo this early would be a mistake.

Clutterbuck had good chemistry with JT in the OHL

I think he could be a 20-25G winger on a line with JT and add 300+ hits

Maybe, but I'm not looking upon it as frustration or giving up on Kyle as opposed to exchanging skill sets. Their goal scoring numbers are different but not drastically different. Kyle is clearly a better playmaker but Cal has much more toughness and nastiness to his game that is needed on the Island.

While I think of this type of trade as more of trading for Clutterbuck as opposed to trading KO, we do have to be realistic in knowing that Kyle will be 25 in 2 months and his window of developing into something more is lessening each day.

Several of our fans point to Matt Martin's goal scoring, while riding shotgun on Stamkos wing in juniors.

They make the same prediction about Tavares/Martin

Clutterbucks last three NHL seasons
74GP 13G
76GP 19G
74GP 15G

JT should be able to raise his goal totals by 5-7

Wow, this came out of nowhere. I like it. You could argue a pick here or there, but in the end it's more or less close. Hard to see it actually done though considering how highly valued each team likes each of them.

I'm willing to be a little more patient with Okposo due to him not playing during the lockout, and due to what I've seen from him in the past. When he first came up he was consistently our best player on the ice. Always noticeable. Always getting involved physically. Always hustling. It seems there's a combination of a rust and confidence issue with Kyle, and once he figures it out I expect him to be a quality top-6 player.

I honestly expect him to bounce back soon(playing with Bailey won't hurt either), but on a greater scale I think a new coach would do him a lot of good. The type of coach who doesn't tolerate a lack of effort, or his players playing soft hockey. Now that I think about it, a new coach would probably be good for every one of our players.

I'd rather give Matt Martin a shot at that spot on Tavares wing, then to trade Okposo for Clutterbuck.

Okposo's been a slow starter every yr, except 1.
If the isles decide they can't put up with his slow starts/inconsistent play, that's fine. But, I want Okposo to bring back more then Clutterbuck and I think he can.

We do love Clutterbuck(atleast most do). But Okposo has a skillset we are lacking and we have Johan Larsson who could probably do a reasonable Clutterbuck impersonation in the Minors.

Plus Okposo is from Minnesota, so that would appease the provincial fans.

KO would look mighty nice on Granlund's RW. Toss Zucker on the other side and we might actually have a 2nd line.

I think we agree to certain extent on Kyle but disagree on Cal. I think he has a much bigger positive impact on the game than you do.

I see this as a Kassian for Hodgson trade where different skills are exchanged and both teams are completely satisfied at the end of the day. As an Islander fan, I obviously wouldn't be opposed to Minn adding.

The guy has scored 34 goals the last two years for MINNESOTA. That is a pretty impressive feat in itself. He has the ability to put in 20 goals if put with some talent. Disagree he is just an agitator. It's not like his last name is Gillies.
