Nobody seems to be mentioning Anaheim in potential trades. Wasn't it reported that there's been an Anaheim scout attending the last 2 Sens games?

Getzlaf and Perry to Ottawa. We're saved.

That's more like it. And suddenly we become cup favourites. But in all seriousness before last night's tragic accident I was daydreaming a lot of potential Perry scenarios. Still am, but less enthusiastically now.

Oilers fan coming in peace.

Would Ottawa trade a 3rd for Whitney? He needs a change of scenery and Ottawa needs help on the blueline. A 3rd isn't a lot, and if Ottawa does drop out of the playoff picture by the tradedeadline, they can unload him for some compensation. Low risk move for Ottawa to give them at least a chance of still making the playoffs. Whitney's contract expires at the end of the season.

Well there is a small chance that we sign both this off season, which would be ****ing awesome.

I'd do a 3rd. Medium risk, high reward. Perfect rebuilding move.

Edit: just realized hes an expiring contract. Change the third to a 5th-7th.

The last time Getzlaf was a third line center, he won a Stanley Cup.

I'd do it if he could play the right side. We've currently got no right handed defenseman which I'd imagine is a bit of an issue

Does anyone think that there's a chance BM could get instructed to make a trade by upper management simply to keep fan interest in the team high?

Admitedly, I have lost some interest since last night. This team was having difficulty scoring and playing excisting hockey without EK on the ice, and not with him gone and Spezza already gone, it's not going to get any easier. The most exciting player on the team now if freaking Da Costa.

Sens Management could fear that fan interest may wane with the quality of the product on the ice being affected. A trade to bring in a player may excite fans and keep them coming.

5th rounder seems to be the going rate for D-men (Ellerby, Lovejoy). Whitney's been a healthy scratch for a while, no?

I thought we lost last years 7th in the Klinkhammer deal.

Nope, it was a 2013 7th. We drafted Wikstrand with our 7th this past draft.

Mike Green anyone?..could help with the loss of Karlsson, and be an excellent Gonchar replacement next year. Would fit MacLeans system perfectly imo.

Not sure what the price would be if the Caps finally decide to shake things up..

Green has been Washington's best defender this season. It'd take a few good pieces to get him.

Sounds like Clowe needs a change of scenery and they want to move a body on Defense... Clowe+Murray for say Greening and a 3rd?

I hope they don't, but it's something you have to figure they consider. I'll admit yesterday the wife and I were talking about taking a trip to Ottawa to see a game - but there's no way I'm going to pay for a flight and tickets to watch Benoit and Regin instead of EK and Spezza.

Good gravy no. He's not anywhere close to the player he was before the concussions and he was bowling-ball dumb BEFORE he got hit in the head. Now he's Frankenstein on skates.

Plus have you seen his contract? AWFUL.

I would do that. Not sure if SJ would though.

So what would/should we be prepared to offer for Perry? I'd make a suggestion but my brain don't work so good today.
