Sure he would be a nice luxury to have, but with Ceci coming along we don't need Green IMO.

he has some sort of ntc according to capgeek, so he might not want to come here, but i wouldn't mind getting him. anyone know how he's looked this year? i imagine there haven't been too many bright spots for the caps, so i'm guessing not great. still, if they're willing to take a prospect and say a greening, it might be worth it. might add a pick

methot - karlsson
cowen - green
phillips - wiercioch
boro/gryba

if green is not looking good, might it be better to just move wiercioch to the #4 spot instead of acquiring green? after this season, green only has two years left on his deal. we could grow wier on the third pairing in that time. green could bounce back and play well. not point in not kicking the tires. if we have to give up wiercioch, i'd be hesitant though, so it all depends on what it'd take to get him.

ceci probably won't be ready next year. this deal would give him a few years in binghamton, which he could probably use.

Regardless, I think the money & assets can be better spent elsewhere. I think I'd rather give Wiercioch the minutes anyways.

What you meant was,
"Yeah according to caps fans he's been, if not their best player, their best defenseman." ?

Our defence is fine. Would rather have Drouin, Monahan or Lindholm.

After talking with a few Colorado fans we came to this trade proposal:

Ryan O'Reilly
Shane O'Brien

Mika Zibanejad
Patrick Wierchioch
3rd 2013

Disagree completely. We need a gamebreaker up front. Spezza going down more than shows just how dry our offence becomes without one player. We need someone that can ease that load and fit in as an elite forward. On top of that Jones is not the clear BPA...guys like Drouin, MacKinnon, Lindholm, Monahan and Barkov all have just as much if not more upside (personally I think Drouin has the most upside of any prospect in this draft).

No, thank you. I would, personally, like to see how Zibanejad develops, as I believe he has more upside and is going to be a lot more useful than O'Reilly as a forward in the future. O'Brien could be a nice stop gap for the season but I don't see us having much use for him in the future, would rather hang on to Wiercioch and the 3rd round pick.

Have heard a lot of good things about O'Reilly. We're giving up a good package, but in this case it might be worth it. If he's a center, with Da Costa and Turris, how would we shuffle our roster?

By this point, I'm hoping that at some point we'll be able to move Turris onto the wing, just because of how much he sucks at faceoffs, and hasn't seemed to improved at all in that aspect of the game.

From the second line to waivers for Andrew.

We could do worse.

He was up over 50% before Spezza went down. Much like him not being ready to face the other team's top defensive unit, he's not ready for their face off aces either. He'll improve a lot over the course of the year having to face them every night.

I'd make that trade. I'd try to negotiate the 3rd into a 4th or 5th, but I'd do it.

What was the story there anyway?

He kills it in Binghamton one season straight out of college and the next year he's off to Anaheim/Portland. Thought he'd never get a chance here or something more?
