Wife and I had club seats for tonight's game. Definitely amazing to be in that club section. Got to pamper the wife since it was our 2nd anniversary.

Best part was I caught a foul ball from McKenry in the bottom of the 8th

Good stuff, though I'm still not sure what any self-respecting Pens fan would be doing at a Pirates-Mariners game while a playoff game was going on

I caught a foul ball once and it got lost to the annals of time...I'm determined to get another one, but I doubt that'll happen anytime soon...I'm not paying $100+ for a regular season baseball game (requirement for Dodgers tickets in any seat that could potentially get a foul ball) and I haven't watched a game from the outfield since the first game I ever went to (Pirates vs. Padres in '95...I heckled the **** out of Tony Gwynn).

I do actually have good tickets for a game this Friday, though. Between it being a completely irrelevent opponent (Marlins) and the Dodgers flailing I was able to grab a couple $140 1st base tickets for $40...still more than I've ever paid for a Pirates ticket and nowhere near the best seats I'll ever have.

Tomorrow should be interesting...if more than 5 runs are scored between the two teams I'll be shocked.

edit: Feel the need to post this - I critiqued the addition of Jeanmar Gomez as much as anyone and...I will gladly eat those words. In the absence of Jeff Karstens he has been the ideal swing man to this point and he clearly has a place on this roster. That is subject to change at any time, but as it stands he's doing the job as well as anyone could have asked him to...and despite the retread feel to him he only turned 25 in February, the same age Karstens came over to the Pirates as a throw-in.

My wife and I went into the club area and sat and ate Primanti's and had root beer flaots for about 3 innings worth of the game... One TV was to in the lounge so we could see the Pirates... the other was the Penguins

Plus the tickets were free. I won them at Pirates Fan Fest.

Either

(A) sit on my comfy couch and watch the Penguins

or

(B) Go sit in awesome free $70 seats and have a pampered night out on the town on my anniversary with hot wife... while still watching the Penguins on an even comfier couch

Not an ideal way to blow the lead against King Felix... the Fort owes us one.

Well, at least Burnett lost the game on his own, rather than leaving with a no decision in a 1-1 tie and seeing Hurdle put Vin Mazzaro in for the eight inning...

Any time we want to stop being shutout by Dillon Gee would be cool...

In other news, Cole with a very good start in Indy tonight.

Clint Hurdle may have some talents, but it doesn't look like managing a baseball team is one of them. Sanchez for Snider instead of Jones, and now Watson in to lose the game in a high leverage situation.

Alvarez showing he is a 3 outcome batter; too bad one of those outcomes is striking out 1/3 of the time.

Nice play there to rob McCutchen of the go ahead hit.

Hurdle seems like he's actually using his best pitchers in this tie game... Grilli was warming up before. But this probably just means Grilli will lose the game and Hurdle will never do this again.

Quintessential Hurdle. Bad managerial decisions lead to an almost-loss, salvaged by a lucky solo HR. Good managerial decisions lead to a swift and decisive loss.

What a nasty game. Pirates should be embarrassed to be shut down by Dillon Gee.

maybe it's because I dislike Inge a lot but I feel a different option at second wouldve made that play in the 9th and had the winning run out at first.

Some decidedly un-clutch ABs in the last few innings there with runners in scoring position.

Really sick of Tony Watson, too.

Yes, I think Inge made a significant contribution to the loss. Hopefully that keeps him on the bench once Walker gets back.

I love how every time I randomly choose a date to go to a baseball game I wind up getting at least one starter pitcher that I've never heard of before. The Dodgers-Marlins game I'll be going to tonight features a starter who never pitched above AA entering the season taking on a starter who never pitched above A before the season. Jose Fernandez should be fun to watch at least...

Watson is pissing me right the **** off this year. His role has been inflated to more than he's capable of...just accept that he's a one or two batter specialist and move on, Clint.

watson as a lefty throwing 94 sounds good in theory, but in practice his results are just not good. he needs to get the jared hughes treatment soon.

That's a a 3-run dinger for GI Jones. 6-0 if they get the call right

Not sure if you guys are aware, but the hall of fame released some content devoted to scouts, one of which is a database of some scouting reports of baseball players. Funniest ones are Bo Jackson; lamentations about football and gushing about his tools.
