I don't know if I'd say he has been MUCH better. Sestito has played in one game and played fine. McGinn has been fine too. Six of one, half dozen of the other.
McGinn can win a fight as well as play some hockey. Sestito can hit and drop them but much like Shelley he typically goes on to lose. McGinn is also younger and only in his 2nd yr pro unlike Sestito. Going forward i know which one i would choose to keep on the roster (assuming there were not other factors involved in the decision).
Bah! You and your annoying "perspective". What does this honestly contribute to our discussion?
Mainly that Shelley and Sestito would have had it much tougher had the Rangers had a full head of steam. I won't deny that pretty much every player for the Flyers did a great job of keeping the puck in the Rangers zone for a good amount of the game.
But sometimes you get lucky with the schedule.. Hell we've seen the Flyers sluggish after back to back games before.
Although this conversation did quickly shift to McGinn and Knuble.
Jody Shelley and Tom Sestito are good at their role, period, and for tough guys, they're not half bad players (though Shelley's slowed down so much he doesn't provide any more offence at all). I certainly didn't panic when I found out they were in the line-up. First thing I thought of is "no Rag is going to **** with Wellwood at least tonight."
Sestito is like a 5 minute penalty kill waiting to happen. If it weren't for that I wouldn't mind seeing him in the lineup regularly at all. He's like Shelley but better at hockey. Damning with faint praise maybe, but it's something.
