Rebuild swap with 1 change

If you could swap our roster with any other rebuilding teams roster who would you pick?

I was originally thinking the oilers but in a couple of years that team will blow up once all those superstar rookies become UFAs as that will be an expensive team.

Now I'm thinking the leafs! They are seen by many as a joke team but I actually like them.

I like their coach and really wish the Avs brought him in, I like their D with the likes of Phaneuf and I like their forward core like Kessel and Kadri coming up.

My one change would be to bring Varly.

They would be a very well rounded team and with some slight tweaks, they would have the potential to be a great team.

What do you think?

Strong down the middle - Check.
Franchise young goaltender - Check.
Captain power forward - Check.
Stud young #1 D - Check.

We're missing pieces and need to get better, but Sherman is addressing it in the right way. I certainly wouldn't trade our situation for Toronto's.

I wouldn't want to swap entire rosters with any team, it would be more interesting if you could swap maybe 1 key piece of the rebuilding for another key piece of another teams rebuild. Ex. O'Reilly for Eberle.

Landeskog - Stastny - Eberle
McGinn - Duchene - Parenteau

Yup, and like all rebuilding clubs we lack depth to deal with injuries.

Boom, nailed it on the forehead.

People one here are freaking out and calling for serious change because were what, 4-6 early on in a near 50 game season, playing without 3/3 players that made up by far our top line last year.

How would the Pens being doing without Crosby, Malkin, and Neal. Or SJS without Marleau, Thornton, and Couture. Van without the Sedins?

No team would be able to play to there capabilities when they are missing 3 of there better forwards, 2 of there very best once year ago.

This season is looking like a lost cause because of injuries, no one could have predicted that would happen, but it has so we have to deal with it.

We still have a very strong core with good pieces in every position, no need to blow it up or do anything drastic. There's a good chance we'll be adding another good piece to the puzzle at the draft this year.

Captain power forward- who knows how he will be when back from the concussion

Rotfl, wow

EJ has ZERO support back there, and I'll say this... I think Landeskog will be fine, hes not the type to play tentatively. Remember how he played when he was sick?

That kid is driving around and signing autographs and taking pictures with people. My feeling is that they are being extra careful with him... Can't imagine him being out and about that much if it was really that bad. Usually there is some sensitivity to light and other things that come with bad concussions.

He tweeted the other day about hitting 9 green lights and being lucky, and I have already seen two pictures with fans that have been posted since hes been out. (One on the road in Vancouver I believe and the other at home at the CAN.)

I would say Edmonton...

Their young team is incredible to watch...

I hate that they are in our division

Edit - With that said, there are players on our roster that I dont want playing for any other team...Lando and Dutchy come to mind. Love those guys.

St. Louis as well...but if they don't "count" anymore as a rebuilding team, then the Islanders.

Penguins made the postseason with Malkin, Crosby, and Staal injured for half the season in 2010-2011...

Columbus with their 3 1st round picks and the youth like Murray, Jenner, Johansen, etc. No Awful contracts that cant be dumped or bought out. Not bad, but I think Avs are ahead of them at this point.

Oh, I'd say they have a LOT of bad contracts, and I don't think many of them are moveable. That said, I was thinking they could make waves in the next couple of years. I sure hope to hell Davidson has the good sense to fire Howson before he gets a chance to make any major moves. Dude's the most incompetent GM in the league...and that's saying something.

I don't consider St. Louis a rebuilding team. The answer for me would easily be Edmonton.

People say Avs are strong down the middle. That is so overrated.

Stastny is the highest paid player on the Avs who's production is dropping every year for the past 3 years, Duchene still has a ton to prove, and this team might lose O'Reilly.

Why don't i see that strong center group some people claim the Avs have?

Stastny's pay has nothing to do with anything.

He's an overpaid player who would still be a solid #2 on almost every team.

O'Reilly, if he is signed also is a solid #2 on a lot of teams.

And while Duchene has a lot to prove still, he has stepped up so far this year as our #1 center winning a ton of draws each game and putting up respectable points.

Coach/Owner that will hold us back from achieving any sort of real success - Checkmate.

Use 2 buyouts on Wisniewski/Tyutin and Umberger. Dubinsky and whichever of Wisnewski/Tyutin is kept are not great deals to still hold, but not awful.

Edmonton. They're a GM shy of being a playoff team.

I'd swap with the Oilers or Panthers.

Islanders would be a possibility, but not sure about them anymore.
