Serious question...how do we go about getting that stud defenseman?
It's a great question, and one I don't have an answer to because I'm not Doug Armstrong. But I'm sure he's looking.
At this point, you might have to do what it takes even if it requires giving up a good winger. This team could use some type of shakeup...they look lifeless most of the time. Having a physical force on the backend would be a nice addition. And if Halak is out and we roll with Elliott, it's not like we'll be acquiring some good goalie, so gunning for a defenseman would be the next best thing.
Could be interesting days ahead if this team doesn't snap out of it quickly. It was after game #13 of an 82-game season last season that they fired Payne. This is currently game #12 in a 48-game season...This time the coach is staying, but I wouldn't be surprised at Armstrong making a move at any point now. This is the quarter mark.
His scoring has been lax and absent a lot of games. Yes, he can pass to gather up assists.. but we all know he is much better than just passing pucks around.
Besides, I also do not search out all data sheets. But tell me, has he been a spotlight yet this season despite he has some points?
Spotlight? No. But I think he's been solid aside from his faceoffs. I want him moved back to LW but I think he's been OK this season. He's definitely not on my list of players that I'm frustrated with. He's pretty consistent and adds a good element to this team. No problems with Steen.
Has Hitchcock lost this team? They are not playing defense, which is supposed to be Hitchcock's coaching strength. The last goal by Stoll, and all of the play except the first game, is a perfect example. They do backcheck like crazy, but once in the defensive zone the Blues look lackidazzicle to say the least.
