I really don't want Landeskog back for this game.
It could mean that he will get rushed back/rushes himself back after this "!)'*""! performance and will try too hard and get himself and us into a world of hurt.

Just take your time Gabe....

I hope the Avs just hand the keys over to guys like Barrie and Elliott for the rest of the season and let them learn on the job. This season is a write off anyways so let them gain experience and learn from their mistakes.

Start shipping out 1 or 2 vet D to contenders who want depth.

You're probably right. It's just wishful thinking on my part. I want him to be 100% healthy when he gets back but hopefully he's back soon.

Elliott has just started to play again after his injury. I'm absolutely pro playing the prospects in this season but it's too early to call up Elliott imo. I hope they'll call up Gaunce although I'm almost sure it won't happen.

I'll be surprised if it's not Elliott. Even though it shouldn't be Elliott. But that's the corner this team painted themselves into.

And it's Elliott, officially. I'm excited to see what he can do. Not at all concerned about his AHL play.

This reminds me, although shattenkirk didn't play very much in the AHL, wasn't he the one that didn't produce much?

2 assists in 13 ahl games.

Everybody knows we felt safe letting Shattenkirk go because of Elliott and Barrie being considered similar type players, but if you're comparing, Elliott is much more similar to shattenkirk than barrie is.

I'm glad Elliott has been called up and i'm looking forward to seeing what he can do. I would call up Gaunce too if it were up to me. The entire point needs to be shaken. It cant get any worse.

Yes. Just another reason why AHL production means basically nothing. Whether it's none from a guy like him, or a PPG from a guy like Hensick.

More that you need a bigger sample size to get an idea. Over a stretch 13 games anything can happen. A few unlucky/lucky bounces and the stats look completely different.

It's hard to imagine Shattenkirk not putting up good numbers over a season in the AHL, if he had been given a chance.

That's part of it, and perhaps Shatty could have put up good numbers but there's just so many weird factors, that affect each player differently. Whether the linemates, or forwards for a D are talented enough to help you out. Whether the opposition you're lined up against as a forward is big and tough enough to push you around like NHLers would. Whether the moves that consistently work well in the AHL will ever work in the NHL, against smarter, faster, and stronger opponents. The quality of the systems at the AHL level. If you're focusing on your overall or defensive game, at the expense of your offensive game because that's what the team told you to do. If your team or goalie sucks, and that is causing you to play differently. If you have bad chemistry with a bunch of minor league guys.

I would want Landy back in the lineup for the Sharks or Flames game, at the earliest....

the more concerning thing to watch for is development and level of play in the AHL. you can put up good numbers in a lesser league and still not be very hockey savvy or refined in your skillset.

I would not want Landy back for the Sharks... with how hard they hit I feel we might get another Mueller situation if he comes back and plays the Sharks early on.

It's now official: Gunnarsson returns while Liles (in 1st year of 4-year deal) scratched

"Lets get Liles back" hehe... Seriously, I wonder how much he would cost.

Couldn't be worse than the pylons we're icing now. But I think that ship has sailed

Liles isn't the same player he was with us. At that time he wasn't that great either but he was a lot better than he is now. Now he's older and has had some injuries including a concussion.

Don't want Liles back.

Oops..I clearly wasn't paying too much attention when I posted that.

I definitely don't want Landy's first game back against the Sharks.

So, Flames at the earliest** haha

The Avs should resist temptation with Liles. Sure the Avs could use the extra help now, but Liles is on a 4 year contact with a NTC. He would likely just interfere with the rebuilding process of the defense.

I wouldn't mind Liles if he came really cheap (like 4th round pick), but I really don't see a need for him with Barrie starting to establish himself and Elliott in the wings. Hopefully our D pairings are this next year.

ROR Trade - EJ
Hejda - Barrie
Wilson/Zanon - Elliott
Hunwick

Might as well see if Leafs buy him out this summer, if you want him. That contract is too ugly to trade for. If he wants a two year $2M/year deal after being bought out, it might be a different thing.

hell and no. Liles is not the type of D man we need. we need to let Barrie and Elliot play, develop and improve.

then use ROR to get another top d man and a nice prospect.
