His weaknesses is that he is kinda small for a goalie these days only 6 feet and he always goes down butterfly style on every shot leaving the top corners of the net fairly open. He can also lose his temper but so far it's gone good for him so not seen any signs of that yet. His strengths are that he is almost as quick as Varly but not as agile though and he rarely lets in a bad goal. I'm really curious how long he will be able to keep this run going but I feel Anaheim jumped the gun on a guy who might ultimately be a elite backup at NHL level.

In regard to possible trade options for O'Reilly, MDZ got hit pinching in along the boards on the PP early in the 3rd tonight, looked a little banged up, and never came back for the 3rd or OT.

Also, not sure what a deal with Ottawa would look like, but if there was a secondary piece, this kid Jakob Silfverberg looks kind of interesting. Had a nice move to the backhand for a goal, and a hell of a snapshot goal in the SO which apparently he also put on display against Brodeur.

Good speed with some good moves and drive to the net, and also has some good size which could develop a power forward game. Looks to have some good instincts and is solid defensively too. Plays LW as a righty, so I bet he could play either wing on probably any of the top three lines and fit in well.

Hmm... a 22 year old Silfverberg or a 19 year old Zibanejad... Dont know what I would prefer. Ziba can very well be much better than Silfver is in the same age.

What can we add to O'Reilly to get both?

I'd go Silfverberg he seems like the safer bet at this point. Ott fans seem higher on him as well. But OTT isnt an ideal trading partner, we need to go for a dman centerpiece

blockbuster:

O'Reilly, Stastny, Johnson, Elliott

for

Karlsson, Cowan and Spezza

We absolutely tank this year and end up with a top 3 pick.

Landeskog Duchene Perry (yeah that also happens)
Mcginn Spezza Mackinnon
Clowe(yep) Sgarbossa Downie
Borderleau Mitchell Jones

Cowan Karlsson
Wilson Barrie
Siemens Hejda

Varly

I think to made it happen Sherman need to lock Bryan Murray family in basement of his house, then threaten him that they will be dead unless he makes this trade.

There is no chance in the World that Senators trade Karlsson.

Here's Silfverberg's wrister on display, as well as his backhand and a wicked slapper in the last clip. I still think an offensive D is by far the #1 priority, but this kid is intriguing. Think he could be the teams new Hejduk, but bigger and just as good defensively.

His SO goal is at 3:10 in the second clip.

If he could be had for something cheap...would we ever consider adding Connolly? I may answer my own question here, I'm not sure there would be a point to it since his contract is up after this year and barring him blowing up the rest of the year for us if he did come over he wouldn't be re-signed..and it's not like he's a possible "missing piece" to our puzzle.

But...any interest at all to have him slot in at our 3rd line center? If the price was next to nothing that is.

I really like Silfverberg, but the Sens better throw another good piece in the deal if Radar is going to Ottawa.

He'd also fit the team better age wise, but I'm in the camp that thinks we need to get a d man out of this deal.

Wiercioch

Avs will need to add something back their way though. Likely a defenseman. Unfortunately I doubt any of our scrubs blow their socks off.

Silfverberg is the type of guy who would play well with Stastny, I think. He's got a nasty shot.

If the Avs are dealing with Ottawa, they'd be dealing a lot more for potential than just immediate dividends, so it's risky.

Wiercioch + Silferberg for ROR + SOB would be a pretty solid deal for the Avs. I just see no reason for Ottawa to do that. Their season is done anyway and they have no real need for ROR with Spezza and Turris.

They're still in the playoff hunt easily, and I think they're 3-1-1 since Karlsson went down. Never underestimate a great coach, and Paul Maclean is one of the best.

It's not like they're trading for an older rental.

Their season is far from done. Tied for 4th in points in the league. Even when they were so close to drafting Landeskog, they traded for Anderson and kept playing him while he was hot. The Sens don't give in so easily. Maybe around the deadline but one would imagine they will still try to make the playoffs.

Jan Muršak on the waivers, I wouldn't mind taking a run at him.

Babcock is too much in love with Cleary to waive him.

We will see how long Anderson's ankle keeps him out and if he plays anywhere near the same level when he comes back. I don't see Ottawa keeping up their pace with their current roster. I could be wrong, but I just don't see it happening.

The 3-1-1 doesn't mean a whole lot to me as it is too small of a sample size. Since EJ went down the Avs are 3-1 (with the one loss being in a game where the Avs had a 3 goal lead), does that mean we will make the playoffs or even come that close?

Eh I really don't see what he adds over any of our wingers in the top 9 (when Landy gets back). I wouldn't be opposed to claiming him, I just don't see him adding anything to this team.
