I think he will be a way better player on the 3rd line with Landeskog coming back than Palushaj.

I don't see all that much difference. Neither is going to make a huge impact on the team. I'd rather see Sgarbossa (if we are going to keep him up) on the wing for the 3rd line than either Mursak or Palushaj.

Sgabossa needs to play either on the Avs top 6 or in the AHL, his development will be hurt if he plays 10+ mins per game sorounded by scraps.

The 3rd line gets between 14-16 minutes a game. I think Sgarbossa wouldn't be hurt by playing those minutes, in fact I think that would be a good place to start him. But he should be sent back down if he can't hit those numbers on a fairly consistent basis.

People need to ease up on the whole his development will be hurt thing. Barrie just reminded us all that practicing with the pros and getting comfortable at this level is a big part of making the jump. If Sgar comes back feeling like part of the team and just plays his game, he could still take over the #3C job from Johnny Malkin.

Barrie spent almost season and a half in the AHL getting up to speed of the pro game. Sgarbossa needs to play with talented players to improve, not with 4th liners, I can't think of a single reason to play Jones alongside Stastny and not Sgarbossa.

Sad, but true.

I bet if you guys claim him he goes on to score 15+ goals per season. And in few years get 1st rounder for him by Wings.

Has Sgar played much wing previously? Thought I'd read when he got traded here, that he was pretty much a pure center and that he did not look like he would be very effective on the wing.

Is he much of a pk player? See he hasn't played any this year, but the pk depth on the Red Wings is impressive, so that could just be lack of opportunity.

In the OHL he played some wing, but was mainly a center. I haven't seen all of Lake Eire's games, but I'm pretty sure he mainly played center for them. I think his game would be fine on the wing, but I think the organization is really trying to groom him as a center only.

Really good skill offensively and improving defensively but still kind of raw. He has a great first pass and is a natural PPQB. I see him being a solid top 4 defenseman for a long time and as a left shot would fill a need. He still needs to bulk up more.

I actually like this guy, I think he's got some pretty good potential and while I think he can play on the PP, I don't think he's got the mobility to anchor a PP or be the QB on it. I don't see that, maybe I need to watch him more.

He hasn't been much on pk. Could be asset there with he's speed though.

It's not that he wouldn't have ability there, guess they prefer to tire Zetterberg and Datsyuk instead.. Wings coaching staff hasn't made too many smart decision this year.

You have nooooo idea what poor coaching decisions are til you cheer for the Avs. A comatose Babcock would be better than Sacco.

We will trade Sacco for Babcock. Sacco has a proven, genius system, always makes wise line choices, and has the total respect of his players he just needs a chance to succeed with some talent.

Apparently Carolina is in the market for a depth defender. Not sure what the Avs would want back.

I agree. How much do the Avs have to add to get Cowen and Silfverberg?

I would think that they would value both Silfverberg and Cowen about the same as we value someone like Landeskog/Duchene/Varlamov.

Not to say anyone one of those players are better than the other, but in terms of Team Value, I would expect to be told that it would take someone like the 3 I mentioned to get both Cowen and Silfverberg in a deal

I'm wondering about LaRose. He's a chippy guy who can usually get 10-15 goals a season. He's off to a bad start, and is a UFA at years end. Not sure how Carolina views him, but I'd ok parting with O'Brien or O'Byrne for him.

A few weeks ago a lot of Carolina fans liked the idea of trading McBain for O'Byrne. Too bad HF isn't the NHL.
