Kyle Okposo for Ryan O'Reilly

Last of the pre-Snow era drafted forwards on a cap friendly deal for the Avs hold-out.

Straight up.

Discuss.

As an Islanders fan I'd do this in a heartbeat, which means that the Avs probably wouldn't. I don't think the value is THAT far off, but the question is my mind is why would the Avs do this? Yeah, they are hurting on the wings with Downie and Landeskog out but they are definitely hurting much more on defense.

I don't think Avs would have any interest in a trade like that.

I did enjoy you calling Okposo's contract cap friendly. I'd call it salary unfriendly.

when you start a thread on a "DISSCUSION BOARD"......you dont need too tell people to "DISCUSS" it.

as for the proposed trade.....no. why trade a guy that is under--as you said--"a cap friendly" deal for a "hold out"?

No interest in Okposo if ROR is involved.

Got any defensemen with a first name of Travis? I would gladly take those player(s) off your hands.

The way I see it is that the longer the AVS wait to do something with ROR, the less their going to like the outcome. If he's held out this long I don't see him caving any time soon (PK Subban).

2 years ago Okposo was the probable future captain of the Islanders. I think a change in scenery is all he needs. Think a lesser Landeskog.

Reality however says that Wang will not pay ROR what he wants, so this won't go down.

Value wise I think it's fair or close enough to work a deal.

You're looking at it the wrong way. The longer the Avs wait to do something with him, the less he's going to like the outcome. Unless the Avs get an offer that is worth more than a signed RoR, this is how I expect the negotiations to go.

"Oh, you're a 21 year old hold out who thinks he's worth a ton of money? Let's see how much you get as a 27 year old who's been out of the NHL for 6 years."

(Next off season)
"What's that? You don't like the idea of being out of the NHL until your RFA years expire? Here's the contract you'll be signing. And now we're trading you to Phoenix in a package for Yandle. Thanks for your cooperation."

Well I agree to a certain extent but that is not a situation the Avs or ROR could afford.
He would just sign a 1 yr 2 M offersheet by someone and force his way on the roster. Avs have most of the leverage. The sooner ROR gets this the better but it is not like the Avs can afford to let this mess drag into the next season. It will be solved one way or another.

Don't think that we can get Yandle for him anymore. The holdout diminished his value.

But we will get something better than Okposo.
It would have to be Okposo + 1st .
And after double checking the standings that won't happen.
Did not realize that the Isles have dropped 4 straight. Before that streak it could have been a possibility with the Isles set to be in the playoff fight but right now there will be no deal.
And I don't think that the Isles would give up Okposo + Strome for ROR and it would not help the Avs anyways.
Isles have Strome as the longterm solution. It is not worth it for them to give up a core piece to shore up the 2nd line Center spot.

And the Avs would not be interested in the offers the Isles could comfortably make. Add that the Isles have the same need for top 2/top 4 dmen than we do (is Vis here now?) and one could come to the conclusion that we make bad trade partners.

Islanders and Avalanche seem like profoundly bad trading partners.

Both probably need to address their bluelines more than anything else, both have some young star forwards and a larger group of decent scoring forwards, both are cap rich but very much cash poor.

I was originally going to post that Okposo's deal may be cap friendly but pays him more than his cap hit for the rest of the term, but it's also problematic that the Avs would acquire a 2nd or 3rd line winger when they already have Jones, Parenteau, Landeskog, Hejduk, Downie. McGinn.. etc.

ROR>Okposo

The Isles are deep at Center but I would still love ROR to be our #2 and just turn Strome and Nelson to wingers....

The only Problem with ROR is he wants so much money...He wants5-6 mil per correct?

Also Colorado would want mor than Okposo

2 questions.

1. What makes anyone think Wang, will ok paying ROR $5m per after 1 strong season?

2. If ROR won't sign a cap friendly deal with Colorado, why would he with the NYI ?

There isn't a player on the Avs, that I think Snow would move Tavares for.

Going into Brooklyn, he's the face of the franchise.
6 yrs/$33m... I love that type of reasonable deal and committment from Tavares.

Not the worst offer in the world but the Avalanche could probably do better.
